Che's remains are finally located in Bolivia and returned to Cuba where they are placed in a memorial at Santa Clara
Che is killed. He is shot by Bolivian soldiers, along with a North American CIA agent
In April, Che's "Message to the Tricontinental" is published, calling for the creation of "two, three, many Vietnams." The same month, part of his guerilla group becomes seperated from the main detachment. On October 8, the remaining 17 guerillas are ambushed and Che is wounded and captured. The following day he is murdered by Bolivian forces acting under instructions from Washington. His remains are buried in an unmarked grave along with the bodies of several other guerilla fighters. October 8 is designated the Day of the Heroic Guerilla in Cuba.

Che made what turned out to be his last public appearance while making a speech at an economic seminar on Afro-Asia solidarity. In the speech he specifically talked about the moral duty of the socialist countries, accusing them of tacit complicity with the exploiting Western Countries. He also mentioned an outline for countries to follow in order to defeat imperalism.
Che went to New York to take part in a United Nations conference. He also appeared on the CBS Sunday news. While in New York Che met with U.S. Senator Eugene McCarthy, as well as Malcolm X. Malcolm X went as far to say in a speech that Che is "one of the most revolutionary men in this country right now".

Fidel Castro sends Che on a three-month tour of 14 different countries, most of them in Africa and Asia. The thoughts as to why Castro did this is because he wanted to distance himself from Che and his Marxist sympathies. It had gotten to the point where Che's beliefs started to push people and many countries in the wrong direction. His most lasting and influential visit came when he was in Japan. He visited the spot where the U.S. had dropped the A-bomb 14 years ago.

Demonstrating outstanding military ability, Che is promoted to be commander
After being appointed as Comandante" After being appointed "comandante" of the militant group, Che started to change his tactics and dealing with his men. He started to impose harsher disciplinary treatment for those that deserted him and the movement. He was know to send these execution squads out to find these "traitors" and hunt down men that were trying to escape. Because of these new actions that Che took towards his men people within the movement started to fear in for his brutality and ruthlessness. He was also in control of executing a number of men who were thought to be informers, deserters, and spies. But even with his fierce side becoming more eminent he did make time to read to read to his men.

Ernesto meets Fidel Castor and agrees to join the group organized to wage guerrilla war against the Batista dictatorship. Ernesto is now called "Che" by Cubans.
Che arrived in Mexico City and sought out his long friend, Nico Lopez and other Cuban exiles from his time in Guatemala. Lopez than introduced Che to Raul Castro, who then introduced Che to his brother, Fidel Castro. Che and Fidel talked for a while and Che concluded that Castro's plans were what he was looking for. Che stated, "The U.S. is a puppet whose strings needed cutting." To take action he joined Castro's group called 26th of July Movement.
Ernesto's political views are radicalized after seeing the overthrow of democratically elected government of Jacobo Arbenz by U.S. backed forces. He escapes to Mexico where he contacts a group of Cuban revolutionary exiles. He also marries Peruvian Hilda Gadea, with whom he has a daughter, Hildita

Ernesto graduates as a doctor and embarks on another journey around Latin America that includes, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Panama, Costa Rica, and Guatemala. In Bolivia he witnesses the Bolivian Revolution and in Guatemala he meets Antonio (Nico) Lopez, a young Cuban revolutionary. The stories of these travels are published in "Otra Vez" or On the Road Again.
During the year that Alberto and Ernesto were visiting Chile the government was radical party dominated causing the state to get more evolved in the economy. In 1952, the people elected the same party to stay in office which did not go over well with others who wanted the government to be back to democratic.
The mines that Che and Alberto went to visit in Chuquicamata Chile account for 1/3 of the worlds minning yet that is down from previous years.

From Buenos Aires Ernesto and Alberto head south down Argentina towards Villa Gesell
Ernesto and friend Alberto Granado decide on planned ride to North America on "La Poderosa II" or The Mighty One, the name of Alberto's motorbike. Granado is a biochemist who specialized in leprology. His younger brothers were Ernesto's school friends. They left Corodoba in December, first off to say bye to Ernesto's family in Buenos Aires.

On a motorcycle, Ernesto goes on a 4, 500 kilometer trip around the north of Argentina time when he was young and full of adventure
Strong earthquake hit the small town of Cuzco in southern part of Peru. Many buildings were damaged except stone foundations built by Incas stayed intact and structures built during Spanish conquest was destroyed. 63% of the buildings had to be reconstructed.Che visited Cuzco after leaving Chile with Alberto where he was captivated by its scenery, churches, and history.

Guevara and his family move from Buenos Aires to Alta Gracia a town near Cordoba due to Guevara's chronic asthma. Which also affects his school attendance to the age of 9.The town turned his home into a museum, and celebrate "Che" week.

Alberto Granado is an Argentine-Cuban doctor, writer, and scientist. He was Che's traveling companion during their trip around Latin America. He also founded the Santiago School of Medicine in Cuba.
