Many of the earliest civilizations thought of the idea of making a boat, but around 4000 BC the first boat was made. People during this time period want to travel by water and have a surplus of fish, thus the boat was made. There isn't one person who was credited for this inention because there was no record of it.

Around 4500 BC many of the early civilizations thought for making the first boat so there isn't a true inventor of the first boat. But in Egypt some civilizations wanted to travel by water and have more fish to eat thus the first boat was made. it was made from hollowing out logs and some of the first boats even had masts and sails

Around 4000 BC the first boat was made by the earliest civilizations. In Egypt builders used wood and some boats even had small masts with sails. They were used to to travel by water and to have a surplus in fish.

In Egypt around 4000 BC the first boat was made out of hollow logs. This made traveling water possible.

In the 1990's people still wanted to improve the boat. People wanted to carry airplanes by boat, travel and explore underwater, or just take a vacation on a boat. So early in the 1990's the first cruise liners were made. They carried hundreds of people, had restaurants shops and pools. Also later in the 1990's the first aircraft carriers were made. There were usually nuclear powered and were used for battle. Also some of the first submarines were made. These helped humans find out what is all below us. These were even used to protect a countries territory.

In the time period of the 1890's large container ships came into play. These ship could carry thousands of containers by stacking them on the deck. These ships need to dock at a special port to unload their containers because they need a special crane to remove the cargo. Container ships transpoted anything, but to transport oil you need a supertanker. Supertankers are the largest ships ever built. This impacted history because thousands of goods could be transported by a single boat.

In 1959 the first nuclear powered ship was invented and was named N.S. Savannah. Nuclear powered ships could travel for 3 and a half years without refulling. This was a very large boat that was made from steel. This conserved a lost of energy which helped the environment.

These boats were very strong and can be larger. Once the US struck oil we stopped using the steam engine and we swiched over to oil. Oil was cheaper and more efficient than steam power. This impacted history because now transportation was faster and could carry more cargo.

In the 1880's there became more steam powered boats. There was a slight innovation to the steam powered boat, it could now travel upriver. It had wheels on each side of the boat for more power. This impacted the world because now people could trade by river.

In 1845 The first boat made out of iron was made. This was a very stonge boat that was used in the Civil War era. This boat sometimes used a propeller to navigate or used steam power. This boat was very stronge and carry large amounts of infantry. This impacted history because it started a new era for battleships

In 1769 James Watt patented the first steam powered engine. In 1819 the first steam powered boat was made to cross the Atlantic Ocean. This made ocean travel faster so messages could be recieved faster and people could expand their companies. Since people can trade faster you can ship your goods more efficiently and make your company expand.

By the 1800's there became more methods of trasportation, but people still wanted to travel by water more efficiently. So in the 1800 a long, narrow, tall masted ship was made to make water travel faster. This made transporting goods faster.

Around 1450 there started to become three and four masted ships. These ships had better navigation and strength. They were used as battleships or carried cargo. These could cross the ocean more safley and more efficiently.

Around 1000 AD civilizations were building long and narrow ships that were built to cross the ocean. These ships also had sails to improve navigation. This improved exploration to other continents.
