
Stem cells have the potential to produce all the various types of cells in the body. Over the last four years, scientists have made great advances in reprogramming adult cells back into a stem-like state, turning back the clock and restoring their lost potential. These “induced pluripotent stem cells” or iPSCs could be used to provide treatments for diseases, or even new body parts, which are tailored to an individual’s genome. As this timeline shows, research in this area has raced ahead in the last five years.

Steven Paul Jobs (born February 24, 1955) is an American business magnate and inventor. He is the co-founder and chief executive officer of Apple Inc. Jobs also previously served as chief executive of Pixar Animation Studios; he became a member of the board of The Walt Disney Company in 2006, following the acquisition of Pixar by Disney. He was credited in the 1995 movie Toy Story as an executive producer.
