On April 14, 1865 Abraham Lincoln was shot in the back of the head by John Wilkes-Booth.
He was a in the race for Illinois State Senator he didn't win but was noticed by the entire nation. He was a part of the republican party and he also opposed slavery. While President he rebuilt the Republican Party in an National Organization.
Fearing Lincoln would ban slavery the Confederate states Of America was formed. The states were South Carolina, Texas, Florida, Lousianna, Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi seceded from the U.S .
He was a part of the Democratic Party and was also was from the state of Pennsylvania. He was one of the few presidents that never married. Some of the things he did before becoming president were House Representative, Minister to Russia, James Polk's Secretary of state and was the Prime Minister of Great Britain during Franklin Pierce's presidency.
Milliard Fillmore was from New York. Milliard Fillmore was a part of the Whig Party and during his time was when the Compromise of 1850 came about.

Taylor was a part of the Whig party. Taylor was a slave owner but didn't want slavery to spread to all of the United States.
In 1848 Gold is discovered in California and everyone left their homes and rushed to California to chase this new found wealth. The people that went looking for gold were called Forty-Niners.
President Polk sent John Slidell to Mexico City to offer $25 million for part of Northern Mexico, but the Mexican Government refused to talk to him. Congress declared war on Mexico in May of 1846. In the end the Americans Won.
Polk was from Tennesee and had served as it's govenor, senator, and representative. Polk was a Democrat who favored Slavery and supported state rights. He had four goals h wanted to accomplish and he did and they were Reduce tariffs on imports, re-establish the treasury, settle dispute with Great Britian, and also wanted to gain california.
A writer coined the name Manifest Destiny to explain why Americans wanted western lands. The manifest destiny is based on three beliefs and they are that the nation needed more land to suit the growing population. The second belief was that America could have economic growth and democracy.
This president was also from the Whig party. He was the vice president that took over for William Henry Harrison who died only one month into his presidency.
He was a part of the the Whig party he was known for giving the longest Inaugural speech in the rain. As a result of that he died only a month into office from pneumonia.
Martin Van Buren was a part of the Democratic party. He was the vice president for Andrew Jackson and The U.S Ambassador of Great Britan
This was the result of the Closing of American Banks this depression was caused by Jackson's attempt to destroy the Bank Of the United States. When the banks closed the economy of America collapsed and people lost their life savings, business failed and unemployment also rose.
This was one of the biggest challenges Jackson had to deal with and that was the dealing with the rights of American Indians. This act required 15,000 Cherokee, creek, Chikasaw, Choctaw and the Seminole Indians to move west toward the Indian Territory.
Before becoming a president he was a Millitary officer he was most famous for the battle of New Orleans. His Presidency became known as the Jacksonian Democracy. Jackson founded the democratic political party.
This was one way of transporting goods from one place to another. This was made obsolete by the steam powered railroad.
He was from Virginia. He was part of the Democratic- Republican party. Their was a big problem with his election because Andrew Jackson had the most votes but did not get the majority of the votes so it came down to Congresses decison of who was to be president
The biggest problem with Missouri becoming a state was that if it became a free state it would shift the power from salve states to the free states and vis-versa. The compromise was brought about by Henry Clay of Kentcuky. This allowed Missouri to be admitted as a slave state but banned slavery to the region north of the Missouri Compromise Line.
James Monroe was from Virginia where he was Govenor of Virginia. A few other things that he did before becoming president were being an officer during the Revolutionary War and a U.S Senator.
It was also known as Mr. Madison's War in 1814 the British set fire to Washington D.C and the Madison's wife saved the only picture of George Washington from being burnt along with the White House.
James Madison was part of the Democratic Republican party. His home was Montpilier which was a large slave plantation in Virginia.
Thomas Jefferson purchased 800,00 square miles of land from the French for about $15,000,000 dollars.
Thomas Jefferson was the first President elected from the Democratic- Republican Party. He was also from Virginia like all the Presidents before him his house was named Monticello.
President Adams sent representitives to Paris, France to negotiate a treaty. No treaty was negotiated because the french wanted money just to meet with the americans
He was from Virginia and was also apart of the federalist party. He also chose Thomas Jefferson as his Vice President.
The bill of Rights was ratified by all of the states. These Amendments gave rights and freedoms to the American people, but not to slaves, who were seen as property.
He wasn't apart of any of the political parties but his views would have aligned closer with the federalist party. He is from Virginia and the house he lived in after his presidency was Mount Vernon.
