Question 1: What were the details of the event? Obama gave a public speech stating that Video games are a distraction and there are more important things i REAL life that deserve our attention.
Question 2: Why was the event important to the industry?
If the president pushes too hard, he could put a stop to the Gaming industry all together.

Disney announces their take over of Marvel studios.
Question 2: Why was the event important to the industry?
As always, whenever you have someone new take over an established Franchise, be it movie, comic book and what have you. This either means a great revival or an untimely death for something. As Marvel super heroes are not new to the gaming industry, the games that are put out from this point forward could be the deciding factor in if there will be anymore.

A game to create AIDS awareness was created for the PC.
Question 2: Why was the event important to the industry?
Things like this show the public that games can be more than just toys/entertainment, that they are educational too.

Nasdaq stock market has company has delisted Atari from the Nasdaq Global Market and trading in its shares are suspended.
Question 2: Why was the event important to the industry?
I could not imagine a gaming world without Atari, and this could put a huge stop, financialy to Atari from making any games in the future.

This was a Q & A session about "How Green are our consoles?"
Question 2: Why was the event important to the industry?
Aside from looking at things like, how much power do the consoles use in "sleep mode" and the disposal of older unwanted games and their hardware. The materials used to create these consoles have been under fire. This could impact the cost of every console, which impacts sales, which impacts development of new software.

Iga speaks out about his fans and the future of not only Castlevania, but the future of 2d gaming.
Question 2: Why was the event important to the industry?
In trying to create something new and exciting we often forget where we came from and that its the simple things in life that matter. 2d gaming is still relevant and important to the industry and I feel this was a most needed word of encouragment from the only developer that attended this conference.

Advertising is key, and with this union, just as with television and music, gaming's voice can be heard just as loud and be made sure to hit the right audiences.

This is very important to the industry, in regards to the never ending debate of video game violence. That the very thing that helps the industry thrive, if not kept in check, may also be its downfall.

Discussions revolving around which games should be banned.
Question 2: Why was the event important to the industry?
With over 77% of the feed back coming from those who are most uneducated about the games they are trying to have banned (People that dont even play), this shows how important it is for we as gamers to put the controllers down if only for a moment, to help educate those that need enlightening.

A law suit that lumps Violent Video Games into the same category as Hardcore Pornography.
Question 2: Why was the event important to the industry?
Such labels as this can only hope to hurt the industry in the future, showing that the industry needs to step its game up with more informational/education materials to help those that don't play but have the right to judge, get to a better place to pass a more 'fair' judgment.
