Standard of living is the level of wealth, comfort, material goods and necessities available to a certain socioeconomic class in a certain geographic area. My standard of living in my country is low. Examples of this is that I have a lack of food, little money, unsanitary conitions. Colonization have influenced the Congo by bringing diseases and new world goods into it.
The GDP is the total market value of goods and sevices produced by workers and capital within a nation's borders during a given period. For the Congo that amount is 8.7 billion U.S. dollars. As a substance farmer I get paid 14,200 Franks. In U.S. dollars that is 29 dollars. Each day that is 7 cents in U.S. dollars or 33 Franks
The literacy rate in the Congo is 73% and the rate in the United States is 99%. They show the number of people in the country that can read and write if they are adults. In my real life simulation it was hard to get a good job so I had to be a soldier.
When I was young I had my growth stunned. This is caused by lack of food or a non balanced diet. This is common in my country and 26% of people here are shorter then they should be. This affects the country because people wont be able to develope all the way or be able to catch a disease easyer. This could be stopped if everyone had enough food to eat.
My life expectancy in The Congo is 53.6 years instead of 78.4 years in the United States. The reason they are different is because of our bad healthcare and food sources. My family's income is below the countrys average and the language I speak is Munkutuba.
The Congolese national army attacked and killed at least one hundred civilians during fighting in North Kivu, a province of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The UN stepped in and gave protection to the people of the Congo. The international community put alot of pressure on the subject so it will stop because of the Rawandan Genocide a few years before. South Africa stopped the fighting but more has been occuring.
When I was alive there were no natural disasters that affected me. I did learn about a flood in school that happened in 2002. The flood affected 53,000 people and they have happened before. I think it was hard for people to recover from this because of how the water probly damaged lots of homes and buildings.
They got independince from Belgium in 1960 and It was named the Demacratic Republic of the Congo. The reason they wanted to gain there independence is because of how they were being treated by the Belgeums. After years of political unrest the country was siezed by Mobutu Sese Seko in 1965. The country was renamed Zaire and it fell into chaos. In 1997 the country was renamed the Demacratic Republic of the Congo. The picture is of Patrice Lumumba the first prime minister.
Colonized by king Leopold of Belgium to take there minerals and resources. He enslaved the people and soon the Belgium Parliament took away control of the Congo from king Leopold. The country was renamed the Belgium Congo. After WWII the country gained its independence and the country was renamed The Democratic Republic of the Congo.
