I believe this is a clear warning to game companies. Always have disclaimers on any online game, there will always be someone who takes it to the extreme, might as well cover yourself so your not liable when they do.

Question 2: Why was the event important to the industry? Although nothing new to the game industry, being the scapegoat for people’s poor decisions, the game industry does take a hard hit by saying the game was the reason I killed someone. Stories like this can easily become an issue of more censorship in video games.

Frat Party Games; Beer Pong”
Question 1: What were the details of the event?
Connecticut attorney general Richard Blumenthal was upset that this game, which depicts the college drinking game Beer Pong being played, was only rated “T” for teen. He argued that the game promoted drinking to minors. JV Games vice president Jag Jaeger informed Blumenthal the game would be renamed Pong Toss after being threatened with no release without an “M” for mature rating.

The game supposedly does not imply overly drunken shenanigans. However it may be a sign the from now on games making drug, alcohol, and smoking may be at risk to receive stricter ratings over the concerns of these actions being impressionable on minors.

Could this be a sign that this may carry over to other media platforms such as movies and games?
