Was the 16th president and a republican. He was from Kentucky and some people say he was the greatest president
War that split America apart. It was against the North and the South. The North wanted to demolish slavery and the South wanted to keep it.
Was the 15th president and a democrat. The civil war was about to start as the tensions boiled in the south. He was a successful lawyer and was from Pennsylvania.
The Supreme Court declared that all blacks,free or slave could not be citizens of the United States. Dred Scott lived in a free state and wanted to move to Missouri,so he wanted the Supreme Court to grant his freedom.
Was the 14th president and a Democrat.
The U.S. bought the lower part of Arizona from Mexico
California becomes a state.
Tariff of imported goods received from foreign countries. was frowned a pon in the south because most of their economy was based and goods that came from other countries.
Now,Fillmore was the 13th president,served the rest of Zach Taylor's presidency,and we was a whig also.
In California, gold was discovered.In hope to find some,many Americans rushed to get their paws on some karat!
Was the 12th president and was a whig. He died during presidency.
It all started when Polk sent Mr.Slidell to Mexico City to offer $25 million for part of Northern Mexico. So on May 1846 we sent over troops and fought for two years. Finally we got what we wanted for $15 million
Polk was from Tennessee and was a governor,senator,and representative.He was a democrat.
A lot of Squatters settled on government land with out buying it. Land speculators teamed up with attorneys and took away the land and resold it for big cash. The Pre-emption act gave the right to squatters to buy land.
Was a whig. Had the longest inauguration speech. Oh yeah,he died a couple months into his presidency.

Martin Van Buren was the eighth president. He was a Democrat. He was Jackson's Vice President. Jackson also made a mess that Buren had to clean.
Resulted in the closure of the Banks of America. This depression was caused by Andrew Jackson when he tried to destroy the banks.
Andrew Jackson's solution for the natives. It removed the Cherokee,Creek, Chichasaw,Choctaw,and Seminole Indians from their homes and to the west. 4,000 Cherokee died.
Was the seventh president,nicknamed Old Hickory. He was from Tennessee and a democrat. His presidency was known as the Jacksonion Democracy.
In the 1824 election,out of the four candidates,no one received majority vote. The House of Reps came to the decision that John Quincy Adams would be elected. He was a Democrat-Republican.
This solved the issue that divided the United States,slavery.If Missouri became a state,there would be a shift in congress. Henry Clay helped enact the Missouri Compromise which allowed Missouri to become a slave state,but all of the land north of Missouri would be free.
James Monroe was the forth president. Served many jobs before he was president. He was an Officer,Senator,Minister of France,Spain,and Britain,Secretary of State,and Governor.
Originally called Mr.Madison's War. War with the British and America. The British kept on messing with our ships. In 1814 the British burned down the White House.There was no declared winner but the Treaty of Ghent ended it.
Lived in Virginia at Montpeiler. He was Secretary of State,the Virginia Representative,and drafted the Bill of rights. Was the forth president.
Expedition of the Louisiana Territory. Started at St. Lewis Missouri and ended at the east coast. The Louisiana Purchase more then doubled the size of America.
Third President of America. Lived at the Monticello in Virginia. Purchased the Louisiana Territory from Napoleon Bonaparte. With the Democratic-Republican party.
Second President of America and was with the federalist party. Lived in Massachusetts at is home, the Peacefield. George Washington died during his presidency.
Rebellion that took place amongst farmers in 1794. First test of American government founded under the constitution.
George Washington was the first president of the United States of America. He served for nine years. He had many federalist views. He lived at Mt. Vernon in Virginia.
