EEStor Investment
The Company recently participated as a minority investor in an equity financing completed by EEStor, Inc. While the Company's investment was small, the investment was part of a financing that provided EEStor with additional working capital to further the development of its power storage technology. Importantly, as part of the investment the Company was able to review certain aspects of the technology and obtain a covenant from EEStor regarding a timeline for near term public disclosure of the status of its technological development certified by an independent third party.

As communicated in the Company’s September 24, 2009 press release, the primary focus for ZMC moving forward is the commercialization of its ZENNergy™ drive solutions, powered by EEStor Inc.’s Electrical Energy Storage Units (EESUs) and integrating third-party and proprietary technologies being developed by the Company. This focus, which has long been integral to the Company’s plans, reflects the dramatic shifts that have occurred within the automotive industry and the broad-based interest in electric vehicle (EV) solutions. Central to this interest in EVs are solutions that provide smaller, lighter, longer-lasting and less expensive energy storage. ZENNergy™ drive represents such a solution.
EEStor Patent 7,595,109 B2 Issued September 29, 2009: BRINGS TOTAL TO 3
If you keep a pulse on TheEEStory.com, you will already know that one of it's patent applications was approved for issuance. Well, TODAY, the patent was issued officially as Patent 7,595,109 B2.
A patent attorney, Daniel A. Pearson, whose main specialty is pharmaceuticals, has said:
"The patent claims in U.S. Patent No. 7,595,109 are very good claims for Eestor, especially if you believe that coating the CMBT with alumina is important for the energy storage properties they are reporting. There is nothing controversial here IP-wise.

Well known the best powders of the highest permittivity of any materials in the world. Although they have some very significant problems. And people tried for about 30 35 40 years to solve those problems by variety of techniques process and that stuff. Ahhh, but classically they never really took the full approach that we did to attack those problems on an individual basis as we go through a production process.

Denise Gray is GM’s director of advanced batteries and is principally involved in development of the Volt’s batteries. I had the chance to ask her what she knew about EEStor and whether their was any kind of relationship between EEStor and GM.
Have your heard of EEStor?
Yes.
Have you ever communicated with them?
Oh Yes, Yes Yes. One of the great things about the advanced battery technology community is lots of information comes to GM and I’m really in a very good position (because) we’ve left an open door with many different suppliers. And EEStor is one of those suppliers who often sends us information. We’re willing to evaluate what they have and provide information on what our portfolio of higher batteries needs are, so that as they hone in on their technology they recognize what that end game is all about.

PHOENIX -- John McCain hopes to solve the country's energy crisis with cold hard cash.
The presumed Republican nominee is proposing a $300 million government prize to whoever can develop an automobile battery that far surpasses existing technology. The bounty would equate to $1 for every man, woman and child in the country, "a small price to pay for helping to break the back of our oil dependency," McCain said in remarks prepared for delivery Monday at Fresno State University in California.
