The attack on pearl harbor was a complete suprise attack by the Japanese. The Japanese came in two waves of planes that bombed Pearl Harbor. During this time, Hitler's armies invaded the Netherlands, Belgium, and the north of France. The Germans used a war strategy called "blitzkrieg." With this war strategy Hitler's armies advanced quickly into the Netherland, Belgium, and France territories by trapping the soldiers and taking over land. In the end, Britain was alone trying to stop Hitler's inevitable invasion of their island.
