On this date, Japan surrendered unconditionally due to the shock and devastation brought by the atomic bombs. Thus, bringing WW2 to an end.
The second atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki by the US. The bomb, nicknamed "Fat Man", destroyed 30% of the industry district. Nearly 74 000 were killed and a similar number injured.
