Moody Radio officially launched its new Internet player on Monday, July 25, replacing the previous version which had been in use for approximately five years. The new player allows for a much wider audience to stream Moody Radio online by using Adobe Flash Player which is fully compatible with Windows and Mac computers.

Jan. 1, 2010, Michigan Theological Seminary merged with Moody Theological Seminary and Graduate School to become Moody Theological Seminary–Michigan.

Dr. Paul Nyquist was unanimously appointed as the ninth president of Moody Bible Institute on April 15, 2009. Possessing more than 18 years of ministry and leadership experience, Nyquist previously served as president and CEO of Avant Ministries. Prior to Avant, he pastored two churches in the Midwest and taught as an adjunct professor at Grace University and Phoenix Seminary. He was also a member of the board of directors for Avant (formerly Gospel Missionary Union), Philadelphia Biblical University and CrossGlobal Link (formerly IFMA). His first book, There Is No Time, was published in 2007. It is written as a missionary fable to help communicate the concept of short-cycle church planting, a new missionary philosophy currently implemented by Avant Ministries.

The Five Love Languages, by Moody alumnus Dr. Gary Chapman, makes the New York Times Best Seller list
in 2005, Moody Aviation was relocated across the country to its current site in Spokane, Wash. The new facility partners with Spokane Community College and employs faculty from top mission aviation agencies.

Dr. Michael J. Easley became the eighth president of Moody Bible Institute on March 1, 2005. A gifted Bible teacher and church leader, Easley shared the same passion for ministry, heart for people and love for God that have distinguished previous Moody presidents for more than 120 years. His commitment to the word of God in an ever-shifting world was evident in the development of Easley’s 24-minute daily radio program, inContext with Michael Easley. inContext was designed to help listeners take a fresh approach to grapple with truth through sound biblical exposition, tangible illustrations and real-life insights. He also served as host of Moody Presents, a 26-minute teaching program featuring the music of Moody Bible Institute student groups.
After 103 years of publication, the magazine came to a close, due in part to the increasing number of Christian magazines on the market and the growing accessibility of information online. In the magazine's final edition, Joseph M. Stowell, former president of Moody Bible Institute, said MOODY magazine expressed the very heart of Moody's ministry. MOODY came alongside Christians, challenging them to think biblically, serve faithfully, and share their faith effectively.
In 2003, Moody Press changed its name to Moody Publishers to acknowledge the multimedia aspect of the organization.

In January 2000, Moody Correspondence School pioneered a Bachelor of Science in Biblical Studies degree available completely online. Since 2000, an online Associate of Biblical Studies degree and an online Certificate of Biblical Studies for graduate and undergraduate students have also been offered.

Moody Radio purchased radio stations WXXP FM and WHUT AM in Anderson, Ind., from Anderson Radio G.P. of Anderson, Ind. The change in ownership brought the inspirational Christian format of Moody Radio to Central Indiana using the call letters WGNR 97.9 FM and WGNR 1470 AM. Broadcasting from these stations began on Jan. 26, 1998.
The two stations focus on Indianapolis and Central Indiana, an eight-county metro area, reaching 2.2 million individuals. Stations WGNR 97.9 FM and WGNR 1470 AM reach the greater Indianapolis area.
Moody Radio Indiana's four other stations in Central Indiana, WIWC 91.7 FM (Kokomo), WHPL 89.9 FM (West Lafayette), WFOF 90.1 FM (Covington) and WMBL 88.1 FM(Mitchell), are programmed in conjunction with WGNR 97.9 FM.

Dr. Wesley Stafford, president and CEO of Compassion International, earned a diploma from the Moody Bible Institute in 1970. He joined Compassion more than 30 years ago, becoming its president and CEO in 1993.

WMBV began broadcasting Aug. 15, 1988 from Dixons Mills, Ala. Since 1988, Moody Radio South has grown to include four stations. The first of these, WMBU, is a 100,000 watt station located in Lake, Miss. and started in 1997. In 2005, WMFT began broadcasting in the Tuscaloosa and Birmingham, Ala. area. Most recently, WRNF in Selma, Ala. began broadcasting in December 2007.

Moody Bible Institute continues to publish Today in the Word, a free monthly devotional guide that began in 1988 as a gift thanking the supporters of Moody Bible Institute and Moody Radio. Today in the Word has now been provided for over 20 years and is designed to encourage and grow an individual's faith.
Each edition of Today in the Word includes readings from Scripture, a daily verse, illustrations and practical application. The devotional is distributed to prisons, shelters, churches and to anyone who requests a monthly copy.

Dr. Joseph M. Stowell became president in 1987. Dedicated to equipping the next generation of Christian leaders, Moody added several strategic undergraduate programs, including majors in Applied Linguistics, Family Ministry, Sports Ministry, Teaching English to Speakers of other Languages (TESOL), Urban Ministry and Women’s Ministry. Moody received regional accreditation in 1989. During Stowell’s tenure, applications for enrollment moved to record levels and efforts were made to increase minority representation in the Moody faculty, student body and employee population. The undergraduate school underwent a comprehensive curriculum revision to prepare students for ministry in a changing world. The Moody Graduate School continued to grow, online education was launched and Moody Broadcasting Network expanded from 11 to 33 owned and operated radio stations.
In 1982, Moody Radio began a satellite-fed network enabling communications across America. Today, the network’s potential audience has increased to well over 30 million people and more than one million listeners each week.
In 1982, the Moody Evening School began offering students an Adult Bible Studies Certificate. Two years later, students taking college credit courses could earn an Associate of Arts degree, later changed to the Associate of Science in Biblical Studies degree.

Moody Radio South Florida, 89.3 FM, was born out of the vision of several Chicago businessmen and South Florida residents who knew that the area was populated by seasonal “snow birds” from other states where Moody Radio was available.
From its location in Boynton Beach, Moody Radio South Florida continues to reach this densely-populated region up and down the east coast, from the metropolitan areas of Miami, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach northward to Stuart. It also reaches eastward toward the Western Bahamas and westward to communities bordering Lake Okeechobee.

Beginning in 1977, WKES has proclaimed the gospel throughout the Tampa Bay area. In 1999, Moody Radio purchased WKZM in Sarasota, which began repeating the WKES signal. In 2003, two other stations owned by Moody also began simulcasting WKES programming; they were WSOR in Naples and WHGN in Crystal River. Moody Radio Florida became a regional station heard throughout Central and Southwest Florida.

In 1973, Moody Bible Institute was approached (among other entities) about buying KMBI-AM and KMBI-FM in Spokane, Wash. Moody Bible Institute to purchased these facilities, and the stations officially signed on as Moody Radio stations on July 1, 1974.
Moody Radio Northwest can be heard in Eastern Washington, Northern Idaho, Eastern Oregon, Western Montana, British Columbia and Alberta, Canada and via Star Choice satellite, in Nova Scotia.

Moody Evening School opens its first off-campus location.
In 1971, the mantle of leadership passed to Dr. George Sweeting, the first and only president to have also attended the school. Sweeting led Moody in its goal of meeting the spiritual needs of a changing society. During his administration, the evening school opened 21 off-campus locations, the Pastors’ Conference began, the number of Moody-owned radio stations increased, and Moody Broadcasting Network and Moody Graduate School became part of the Institute.

Moody Radio Quad Cities was established in 1960 between Coal Valley and Orion, Ill. The station was granted the call letters WDLM after D.L. Moody, the founder of Moody Bible Institute.
Moody Radio Quad Cities went on the air April 3, 1960 on WDLM AM 960. Twenty years later, January 20, 1980, WDLM-FM began broadcasting at 89.3.
Moody Radio Quad Cities is also rebroadcast on translator heard at 102.3 FM in Fairfield, Iowa and is heard world-wide online.

Moody Radio Cleveland was established in 1958 at the initiative of local individuals interested in a non-commercial radio ministry proclaiming Jesus Christ from northeast Ohio. Their vision was to share Jesus Christ with the unchurched and to provide encouragement and spiritual growth to Christians. Moody Radio Cleveland is said to be the second Christian FM station to be established in the United States (after Moody Radio Chicago). The name of the organizing group, Christian Radio Fellowship, led to the station call letters, WCRF. The station now has about 150,000 listeners weekly in northeast Ohio, northwest Pennsylvania and southern Ontario, listening to the main signal at 103.3 FM, four repeater stations and two translators.
In 1950, Moody Aviation transferred operations to Wood Dale Airport, located 20 miles west of Chicago’s Loop. Moody Bible Institute purchased the airport, and it became known as "Moody Wood Dale Airport." During this period, the school’s primary training aircraft was the Piper Cub.

Upon the death of Houghton in 1947, Moody trustees turned to Dr. William Culbertson, then dean, to become president. Under Culbertson, the school curriculum was strengthened, a degree program was adopted, and an extensive building program was undertaken. Missionary technical courses, including aviation and radio, took their place in the curriculum.
In 1946, Moody Aviation began, setting up operations at Elmhurst Airport near Chicago. In the beginning, courses included Morse code, meteorology (since pilots would be their own judges of weather conditions), and photography (to tell compelling stories in pictures, so that congregations at home would have a better idea of mission activities).

The first film produced by Moody Institute of Science, God of Creation, was released in 1946 and caused an immediate sensation. It included a number of innovations in cinematography and technology. Dr. Irwin Moon used his own time-lapse technique with many natural phenomena to document the way plants grow. His cameras produced the first color film of the metamorphosis of a caterpillar into swallowtail butterfly. The technique and content of God of Creation would go on to typify later MIS films. Albert Einstein, Walt Disney and President Richard Nixon would go on to praise later MIS science films. MIS produced 23 science films in all, ranging from subjects like atomic energy, sea life, animal instincts, the human heart and bloodstream, the senses and seed dispersal.
Moody Institute of Science was founded by Dr. Irwin Moon, an enthusiastic preacher, positive that science would confirm--not deny--God's presence. A science laboratory was opened to study natural phenomena and to record the findings on film and present them in live demonstrations, in order to show God's creative power in nature. MIS would go on to distribute 62 educational films, 10 missionary/Christian life films and 28 children's films. Sermons from Science demonstrations were performed at 6 World's Fairs, two Olympic Games and universities across the country.
In 1941, Bible Institute Colportage Association became Moody Press.
In 1940, Shea, the future Grammy Award-winning singer who would come to be known for his solos on the Billy Graham Crusades, was hired by Moody President Dr. Will Houghton with "duties that included emceeing, interviewing, news-casting, continuity writing, programming, administration, auditioning and singing" for radio station WMBI.
Later he was also involved in Miracles and Melodies, which started on 67 radio stations across the U.S. in 1940, and was broadcast on 187 different stations in 45 U.S. states, Canada, Latin America and China; and in Hymns From the Chapel each morning at 8:15 a.m.
Shea first met Billy Graham in 1943 while Graham was a student at Wheaton College. Graham was a listener of Shea on WMBI's Hymns From the Chapel and came to WMBI to meet and thank Shea for his program, resulting in their partnership.

In 1937, Moody President Dr. Will Houghton watched in awe a scientist-preacher, Dr. Irwin Moon, allowed one million volts of electricity race through his body for several seconds. After the power was shut off, Dr. Moon stepped off the electrified stage unharmed. After the presentation, Houghton, so impressed with this demonstration and Dr. Moon's educational evangelism, invited Moon to join Moody's extension staff. In 1939, Dr. Moon continued his Sermons from Science demonstrations in front of packed crowds at the San Fransisco World's Fair. Six years later, Dr. Moon's passion for science led to the founding of the Moody Institute of Science.
