• The Fall of the Soviet Union
  1991

  The Soviet Union, under a new leader had to reform. Containment accelerated the fall of the Soviet Union by encouraging it to overextend its economic base.

• Apollo 11 lands on the moon
  Jul 20, 1969

  This was a major event in the space race between the U.S. and the Soviet Union. Even though the Soviet Union was the first into space we were the firs to land on the moon.

• J.F.K. assassination
  Nov 2, 1963

  J.F.K. was shot in Dealey Plaza, Dallas Texas by Lee Harvey Oswald. Then Jack Ruby a mobster shot Oswald point blank before Oswald could stand trial. This whole ordeal has rose a lot of conspiricy and questioning.

• Cuban Missile Crisis
  Oct 1962

  The Soviet Union was shipping supplies to build bases and already had bombs in Communist Cuba. The U.S. had tried before to overthrow Cuba (Bay of Pigs) but was unsuccessful. J.F.K rdered a blokckade to remove the bombs that we in Cuba.

• Berlin Wall
  Aug 13, 1961

  Berlin was the heart of the Cold War. The split between East and West Germany or the "iron curtain" was spliting Berlin into a communist side a democratic side. The East side was democratic and the West was communist.

• Bay of Pigs Invasion
  Apr 1961

  It was a unseccessful attempt for Cuban exiles to invade Southern Cuba with the help of the U.S. to overthrow the Cuban government under Fidel Castro.

• U-2 Incident
  1960

  The U.S CIA had a plane fly over the Soviet Union. The plane could fly so high that the Soviets couldn't shoot it down. Eventually the Soviet Union built a missile that could shoot it down and they did just that. When they shot it down the U.S. said that it was a weather plane but it was CIA. But we got caught.

  North Korea invaded South Korea. American troops go and help Korea. The war ends in a truce, nobody wins.

• The H-bomb development
  1949

  The U.S. and Soviet Union were in a massive arms race. After both sides had made the atomic bomb, the U.S decided to make "super bomb". They made the Hydrogen bomb so it could keep the peace.

  During the Cold War the U.S. gave Western Berlin supplies to help win the war.

  The war was during the cold war era. It was an ati-colonial war between the Vietnamese and France. The U.S. was helping out South Korea. The U.S lost 58,000 men and had 350,000 casualties.
