It is quite a jump for hand held devices to be able to use technology like the Unreal Engine 3. Most 7th generation consoles are still using this engine, and having something that fits in your pocket that is able to use the same technology is a great stride in technological advancement.
As a game designer/developer, it further opens the market for video games. Almost every useful gadget in the world will be able to play powerful games, and it also allows for further cross-platform games to be within reach.
