In a speech on Mideast policy, the president spoke about the "extraordinary changes" in the region and northern Africa, saying, "Through the moral force of non-violence, people of the region have achieved more change in six months than terrorists have accomplished in decades." Obama stressed the importance of America's commitments to the region, as the future of the US is tied to the Middle East by the forces of Economics and Security.

Obama's Billions To Woo New Middle East Order
Barack Obama is to offer Egypt and Tunisa aid packages worth billions of dollars as he tries to remodel America's relations with the Arab world. The US President will use a major policy speech to outline a $1bn (£600m) debt relief scheme aimed at helping Egypt invest in employment and entrepreneurs. Washington will also loan or guarantee loans worth $1bn for Cairo to finance infrastructure development and boost jobs. It is thought Mr Obama's address will cover recent pro-democracy demonstrations in North Africa and the Middle East, as well as the death of Osama bin Laden, the influence of Iran and stalled peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians. Senior government officials say the speech will focus on the opportunities presented by the Arab Spring uprisings, such as political and economic reform, as well as signalling a fundamental change in how America "does business" in the region. Mr Obama has been criticised for apparent inconsistencies in his approach to the Arab world after his attempt to reboot relations during a visit to Cairo in 2009.This year he was criticised for taking too long to call for the resignation of Egypt's then president Hosni Mubarak, while he was swift to side with protesters in Tunisia, a country which holds little strategic value for America. The administration was also accused of soft-pedalling as the Syrian government killed hundreds of pro-democracy demonstrators. But Ali Hasan Abunimah, a Palestinian-American journalist and co-founder of Electronic Intifada, an independent web site about the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict, said Obama's speech did not represent anything new. Even more significant is the increased power given to the international financial institutions, the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, who have been subcontracted by the G20 to monitor and run many of their policies. IMF managing director Dominique Strauss Kahn was jubilant after the meeting, saying that the IMF "is now truly back." The IMF's image had been tarnished during the Asian financial crisis and, until the current crisis came to a head, there had been fears that the organisation was losing its relevance. Mr Strauss-Kahn was particularly enthusiastic about the plan for the IMF to issue $250bn worth of its own currency, the SDR, saying this was the first step on the IMF issuing its own liquity as well as being a lender of last resort - the two key functions of a world central bank. The IMF will also be made more representative, with China and India getting a bigger say, and its top job opened to all comers, not just Europeans, in the future.

The Stench of Truth 161a Part Two Islam doesn't much care for the US because we continue to support Israel no matter what they do. We also hear in the news that, horror of horror's, "terrorists" are being funded by Heroin. In Afghanistan the Taliban effectively suppressed poppy production, do you think we would have a problem stopping it? We wouldn't because we don't want to stop it. Our secret services and covert "black" ops are funded by drug revenues, we want the drug trade. As for the "terrorists", we created them, almost all of them. The others were founded on the backs of other secret services if it wasn't the CIA. In any event what does it matter what Islam thinks of us? I don't care because we have a lot more problems at home that Obama should be focused on instead, like real help for people in this country.

In what may be a defining moment of his presidency, Mr Obama laid out a new blueprint for US Middle East policy, vowing to buckle mistrust, forge a state for Palestinians and defuse a nuclear showdown with Iran. In the Great Hall of Cairo University, Mr Obama warned the US bond with Israel, the source of much Arab distrust of the United States, was unbreakable, and rejected "ignorant'' rants by those who deny the Nazi Holocaust. But, in a sharp break from the policies of his predecessor George W. Bush, Mr Obama also rebuked Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's refusal to halt settlement expansion on the West Bank. "I have come here to Cairo seek a new beginning between the United States and Muslims around the world,'' Mr Obama said in a speech shown on television and on social networking sites.
