• Declaration of Independence
  1776

  Announced that the thirteen colonies were now independent states. Written by Thomas Jefferson. We celebrate this on July 4th.

• 2nd Continental Congress
  1775

  This time all the delegates from the 13 colonies met. After the America Revolution war. They moved towards independence when they met.

• 1st Continental Congress
  1774

  A group of 12 delegates. From the 12 of 13 colonies. Congress was attended by 56 members appointed by the legislatures .

• The Intolerable Acts
  1774

  This was to punish the tea party. Also closed the Boston Habor. No more town meetings in Massachusetts.

• Tea Act
  1773

  This repealed the townshed act. This did not inclued the tea act. Allowed the East India Tea company to sell cheaper tea.

• The Townshend Acts
  1767

  The money thhat was rasied went to the British officals. The colonies protested "No taxation without representation”. The women finally got involved

• The Stamp Act
  1765

  This act put taxes on almost everything you used in their daily lives.This lead to the Sons of Liberty. They boycott the goods, they refused to buy the goods.

• Quartering Act
  1765

  This allowed the British troops to stay in the colonies. Also the troops were allowed to stay in the colonies houses. Of course the colonies didn't get along with them.

• Sugar Act
  1764

  This cut the tax on some goods. But it didn't on some other goods, the important goods. The colonial merchants protested on extra duties.

• Treaty of Paris Proclamation Line
  1763

  The British clamied the land east of the Mississippi River.This banned all settlement. West of the App. mountians

• Writs of Assistance
  1763

  This was made to capture any smuggling. This was to kept the colonies from smuggling. They also did search warrants

• The French and Indian War
  1754

  This was between the British and the French. They wanted the Ohio River Valley. The British won and made the colonies pay for the war debts.

• Social Contract Theory
  1689

  There are really no real dates, because three people wrote it. This gives people the rights and more freedom. It put a limit on the government powers.

• English Bill of Rights
  1689

  This gives the people for freedom of speech. Also no taxation for the people. No standing army for the people.

• The Navigation Acts
  1660

  They kept the trading from the coloniest only for them. Only goods can be traded with England. The colonies just ignored them and continue to trade with other countries

• Fundamentals Orders of Connecticut
  1638

  It was adopted by the Connecticut conoly. This set up the structure and powers. This gave men more voting rights.

• Mayflower Compact
  1620

  The first government by the pilgrams. The pilgrams created it themselfs. It had hundred and 2 passengers.

• Virginia House of Burgesses
  1619

  The first meeting occured July 30, 1619 in Jamestown, which is now Virgina. They had 22 members. The men was over 17 can vote.

• The Iroquois Nation's Constitution
  Jul 1, 1450

  Sometimes called the league of peace and power. It had influence on the United States Constitution. Iroquois were a mix of farmers, fishers, gatherers and hunters, though their main diet came from farming.

• Magna carta
  1215

  An English chater. This was used to limit the king powers. Also to protect the people.
