Commissioner Brian Berger wrote a letter to Wilmington Police Chief Ralph Evangelous accusing the police department of releasing false reports.
According to police, the county commissioner was taken to the hospital Monday night with minor injuries from a razor. Sources say the commissioner attempted suicide, but Berger said that's not accurate.

Heather Blaylock, who has been in a relationship with New Hanover County Commissioner Brian Berger for two years, sat down Monday with WECT.com to explain her side of a very public disagreement.
Blaylock explained the events that happened last week leading up to Berger's midnight arrest by Wilmington Police.
According to a police report, Commissioner Berger and Blaylock argued. As she tried to drive away, Berger ripped a car door handle off, throwing it at the car and hitting the car with his hands.

The District Attorney's Office dropped the charge of Assault on a Female against Berger. Berger's attorney Thom Goolsby says the other charge of injury to personal property was ruled as a prayer for judgment continued and Berger only had to pay costs in regards to that.

New Hanover County District Attorney Ben David is speaking out about Commissioner Brian Berger's latest legal drama.
"Mr. Berger will be treated like everyone else, whether he is an alleged victim in one case or an alleged offender in another," said David.
Commissioner Berger was released from jail after an early morning arrest Friday morning.
Officers with the Wilmington Police Department arrested him around 12:20 a.m. on charges of simple assault and injury to personal property.
According to police, those charges are related to domestic violence.

County commissioners Brian Berger and Ted Davis, Jr. are in Raleigh today to take part in County Assembly Day.
Because of the recent altercation between the commissioners in which Berger says he was "poked" by Davis, the two took separate vehicles to the meeting. According to Mark Boyer, Davis took a county vehicle and was on time to the event, but Berger drove his own car and was late, once again.
