Ray has lived in his apartment for three years and is far from being homeless again. He currently volunteers for the Primavera Foundation to give thanks to them for everything they did.
Ray decided to volunteer in order to give back all the help he was given when he was dealing with his illness and homelessness.
Ray was able to move into an apartment in January 2008. He was thankful to live somewhere with carpet again.
Ray lived in transitional housing for six months while he waited for social security to kick in. He was then able to get an apartment.
When Ray was kicked out his brother's house, he went to the Primavera Foundation's men's shelter for about six months.
It took three years until Ray became really sick from smoking crack.
Because Ray came to the hospital in such bad shape, he has nearly no memory of a week that he spent there. After all of the crack he smoked, he now has heart and breathing problems.
At work Ray's boss could tell something wasn't right and he took him to urgent care.
Decided to commit suicide by smoking crack until it killed him.
