The Americans claimed victory and the Great Lakes, with the order of retreat from the British commander, Roger Hale Sheaffe. In 1812, the US wanted to seize Canada, not for the land, but because the Indians were getting guns from the British and were a serious problem. American leaders thought Canada would be easily taken. The Battle of Tippecanoe started with the white people on the natives land.(The prophets and the William Henry Harrison's Army) The Battle took place in Tippecanoe, Indiana.
