This was the last major battle of the War of 1812. Andrew Jackson heard that the British were ordering ships and armies to attack the US, but they did not know that the Treaty of Ghent was signed because of the lack of techonology. Either way, they won, many British were killed and hurt. For this, Andrew Jackson made President and he was a hero among his people.
The British attacked the fort for 25 hours. The leader was Brevet Lt. Col and George Armistead. The fort protected Baltimore, but the British gave uo on September 14th. Francis Key made the first verse of the Star Spangled Banner while wathing this battle.
It was led by Oliver Hazard Perry, who was after known as "hero of lake Erie" this made the US win the battle of Thames and break Tecumseh's confederation.
The Battle of Thames was a confederation of Native Americans , the US were against him because he helped kill US soldiers with the British. But for other people he was a hero.
During the War of 1812, both sides had problems and things that made them win. The US advantage was that they used gorilla warfare, which gave them an advantage when fighing because the British fought in a straight line. A disadvantage for the US was that they didnt have a lot of money for the troops, had small army's and France wasn't helping them at all. An advantage for the British was that they had guns that were up to date, had bigger armys and had more money for them to spend. A disadvantage was that they didnt fight like that US which made it difficult for them.
a small war between ships and an important victory for Americans, it was led by soldier Isaac Hull, and British soldier James Richard Dacres
The USS Constitution won against the Guerriere
The British and the US were fighting against each other because they wanted the land, and the British didnt want them to gain more power. This went one for over 2 years, and finally ended when they signed the Treaty of Ghent.
The reason there was a war against the US and the British was that they were taking and impressing US citizens, and making them work for their Royal Navy. They were also taking their ships, etc. Obviously, the US was frustrated that the British were doing this and they stopped all trade with them and the French. This was bad for both America and Great Britain.
