St. Paul’s Hospital has reopened two of three outbreak units after a series of norovirus outbreaks closed the units to new admissions January 5, 2011.

The hospital remains in a norovirus outbreak situation with a total number of cases to date at 30 patients and 45 staff members since the outbreak was declared.
Since Jan 14, the total number of cases grew by 15 to a total of 68 — 30 patients and 38 staff members. The increase is a combination of new cases along with others that have now been confirmed to be norovirus.

The first sign of norovirus in the medical unit of St. Paul's appears on January 2, but since then another seven people -- including patients and staff--have been infected.
The unit remains quarantined, which means staff have restricted visitors and new admissions and transfers to the unit.
