People gathered in the streets of the Soviet Union supporting Gorbachev. It was led by Boris Yeltsin. The communist party lost power in the Soviet Union and turned into 15 independent republics. One of the republics was the Russian Federation lead by Boris Yeltsin. This was important because people in the Soviet Union now had freedoms that they didn't have before.
After the Berlin Wall fell Germany was reunified into one Germany. Because the wall fell Germany got rid of the communist government. This is important because one of the main communist governments was now gone.
The Berlin Wall stopped travel from East Germany into West Germany. After it was tore down people rushed through the open gates and reunited with family they haven't seen in years. This was important because Germany wasn't a communist government any more and the people from East Germany now had more freedoms than before.
