King Alfred the Great was born in 849. King Alfred was given the name “Alfred the Great” because of his good leadership. He was one of the best kings in Rome. He defended Anglo-Saxon England from Viking raids, formulated a code of laws, and fostered a rebirth of religious and scholarly activity. His education was very important to his reign. He didn’t know how to read and write until he became king, which was in 871-899. He was different from other kings because other kings would learn fighting strategies and military stuff but he focused on education. However, he did defend Anglo-Saxon England from Viking raids. He was important becuase he was one of the best kings in Rome.
Charlemagne was a brilliant warrior and a strong king, and he led the Franks into building a huge empire. He was known as, “King of the Franks.” To build this empire, Charlemagne spent much of his time in war. He then led his armies into battle against many neighboring kingdoms and conquered them. By the time he was finished, Charlemagne’s empire included all with made France. He is important becuase he helped people see themselves as Europeans.
After their father's death, Pépin the Short and his older brother Carloman imprisoned their half brother Grifo and took control of the Frankish Empire. Pépin controlled more lands and took his army to Italy to defeat the Lombards. The gift of central Italy was given to the pope, and it becmae known as the "Donation of Pépin". This land was then called the Papal States. He is important becuase he is the one who is the cause of the Papal States.
• Charles Martel lead and helped the Frankish army to stop the Muslims invasion that was heading East towards the Frankish empire. • Battle of Tours is the most decisive war that happened in history. • The Battle of Tours began on October 10, 732 AD. • The Muslim army gave up peacefully from Tours as they realized that Charles Martel had captured their leader Abd-er Rahman during battle. • This was one of the most decisive battles for Christianity since losing it would have meant an even greater Muslim progression and possibly the Muslim conquest of most of Europe. It was important becuase it was the war that defeated the Muslim invasion.

The lack of agriculture leg many Vikings to sail South in search of land. One of the biggest Viking fleets was recorded; many dragon ships sailed to Europe. They looted everything from the towns, monasteries, and religious institutions; they also took prisoners to sell as slaves. Europeans lived in terror because of them. Even though the European defenders were well trained, the Vikings were furious, they were very powerful. This was important becuase it was the event that threatened Europe.
St. Augustine was called both the Latin Father and the Doctor of the Church. He was born in November 13, 354 with his father being a Pagan. He became the Bishop of Hippo and taught the lashing powers of Christianity. When the Barbarians were invading Rome, people thought that it was caused because they had abandoned their old religion. St. Augustine wrote a book to say that the purpose for destruction was so to create a new world. He converted everyone to Christianity and threatened the others to go to hell. That helped the fact that everyone started converting. Augustine died in 430 AD happily because he knows that the Kingdom of God would come. He was important becuase he converted many people to Christianity.

• Benedict's rule began in 528 AD • When this rule began the monks had to vow three things, Obedience, Stability, and Conversion in the ways of life. • The Benedictine Rule spread throughout and influenced Western Europe. • All the Benedictine monks’ had to separate monastic life for the “outside” world. • Monasteries over time became massively established. • The first monastery originates in the Eastern Roman Empire. • The first chapter of this rule says that you have to define the four kinds of monks. • This rule has 73 chapters. • This rule, since the 7th century has been adopted in women communities. • The rule of Saint Benedict has been used by Benedictines over 15 centuries. • Benedictine means the spiritual and consecrated life according the Benedictine rule. He was important becuase he made a code called Benedictine Rule, and it helped spread Christianity

The franks, Huns and “Vandals” Goths all attacked Rome and destroyed the western half of it. And soon the franks and the rest of them had the entire western half of Rome. Most of the Huns were coming from Asia to Europe.
Saint Patrick wasn't born Irish he was born in Britten *He was kidnapped for Ireland and token to Britten by force. *They kidnapped him and made him a slave. *He was a slave for 10 years then became a priest. *He made Ireland form a pagan land to a christian land. *They made Saint Patrick's day since the 7th century, march 17 when he died. *Saint Patrick was the patron saint. He was important becuase he spread Christianity to a part of Ireland.
Christianity is a religion founded so that people who believed in the religion could learn the teachings of Jesus Christ. It was important because it was the teachings of a leader, Jesus.
