U.S. National Team member Taylor Phinney rode to a world title on Thursday in the time trial at the UCI Junior Road World Championships in Aguascalientes, Mexico to cap off a solid day for Americans that also saw Jerika Hutchinson win the bronze medal in the women's race. Phinney clocked a time of 37:28.10 over the 28-kilometer course to beat silver medalist John Degenkolb of Germany by 24 seconds, while Hutchinson was just 26 seconds off the pace of world champion Josephine Tomic of Australia. Levi Leipheimer finished the 94th Tour de France in third place overall on Sunday to secure his fourth-career top-ten finish and first overall podium performance. After the mostly-ceremonial final stage to Paris, Leipheimer remained 31 seconds behind Discovery Channel teammate and overall winner Alberto Contador (ESP). The 2007 Tour was a solid one for American riders as Chris Horner finished 15th, George Hincapie placed 24th and Christian Vande Velde finished 25th.
