Toyota and Honda Motors, two Japanese carmakers, have requested the Indian government to transform the standards of classifying small car. And this is because of that the small cars have low tax compared to other car segments. Both the car manufacturers have said that emission norms, passenger safety, and fuel efficiency should be used to classify a car into a small or large car.
Toyota and Honda are both very renowned carmakers of the country and their opinions are expected be viewed seriously by the Indian government. Currently, under the government policy, a car with the length of 4-metre length and has a 1,200 cc petrol or 1,500 cc diesel engine has a lower 8% excise duty compared to 20% duty and there will be an additional Rs 15,000 levied in case of any other cars manufactured in India.
It is also interesting to note that both the companies, Toyota and Honda, are launching small cars in the near future

After days of speculation and dilly-dallying, the truth has finally come out. Giancarlo Fisichella will join Ferrari after intense discussions between the Force India management, Fisichella & his associates as well as Team Scuderia Ferrari with immediate effect. His first race for team Ferrari will be at Monza, its home race.
Force India team principal and Chairman, Dr Vijay Mallya said, 'Giancarlo and his management team approached me yesterday with the proposal from Ferrari. For any Italian driver, a Ferrari race seat is a long-held dream and for Giancarlo it was no exception. No one should stand in the way of this. Furthermore the agreement will secure Giancarlo's long-term future with Ferrari and it would be incorrect to jeopardise this, particularly when Giancarlo has made such a vital contribution to Force India.'
He also clarified that there was no financial transaction involved between his team and Ferrari and that the move was done in 'good faith'. Sources within the fraternity however seem to suggest the deal was done as Force India did owe some money for the Ferrari engine deal last season, and therefore the possibilities of a transaction were slim.
This move marks the end to all the speculation that was rife on the paddock at Spa after Felipe Massa's stand-in and Ferrari test driver, Luca Badoer failed to perform for the second consecutive race. Badoer's 14th and last was in contrast to team mate Kimi Raikkonen's win at Belgium last weekend. Incidentally, Kimi had a long fought battle with Giancarlo Fisichella at the same race and called in for all his resources to stave off Fisichella, who eventually finished second.
The 36-year old's strong pole qualifying performance and the first points for Force India did not go unnoticed by the Scarlet team, who were quick to make their move over the week. While Fisichella is currently being employed until the end of the season, it is not known if he will fill into Raikkonen's shoes, which is speculated to be looking at pastures outside F1.
Meanwhile, Force India will find the going tough as it tries to fill in a driver for car number 21. Vitantonio Liuzzi, the test driver looks like a strong contender, but the team hasn't confirmed the news yet.

What a weekend it was to remember. This one certainly is for the history books, and in so many ways. Giancarlo Fisichella, having driven the race of his life, is expected to fulfil every Italian’s boy dream and get the call from the Scuderia. At Monza, of all places, it looks like he will race a Ferrari. We assume that when the invitation comes he will not accept it for our love for Force India which gave a fading hero the lucky break…
One imagines that the loan of Fisi to Maranello could just be the most profitable piece of business that Mr. Mallya will bank in this financial year.
But, for once, it’s not all about money. Force India proved, on Sunday anyway, that you don’t have to have the biggest, smartest motor home to take on the Big Budget Boys. Lots to mull over then, as we slide reluctantly from summer to autumn, while we anticipate with some relish the climax of the European Grand Prix season at magnificent Monza.
Fisichella. A weekend is a long time in Formula 1, and what a difference a day makes. First Barrichello strikes back, and now Fisichella reminds us that, yes, he has the talent, but not always the inclination. So, the old men are not done with yet, and maybe a bit of experience does in fact beat a new haircut and expensive sunglasses.>
Kimi-without-KERS would not have had a chance at Spa. Just take a look at the lap times. So where has Force India found this startling pace? In two very clever young designers, that’s where, and in a new team manager fresh from the McLaren Technology Centre. Add in the force of Vijay Mallya, the experience of Andy Stevenson, and you see that, in the right place and on the right day, this crew was going to get the car up the grid. And this was no flash in the pan. The car is quick, the engine is strong and they have been working very hard back at the old Jordan building at Silverstone. Wise heads, young heads and a driver with talent will eventually come good, and we should rejoice in another twist to this extraordinary tale of 2009.
What is good, however, is that the sport’s showcase – the Formula 1 World Championship – has rarely been so exciting. Just a few months ago, in Monte Carlo, Bernie Ecclestone declared that he thought the show was becoming a little boring, with the same man winning all the races. Not now. There will be further surprises.

Not only from BMW, but the company is facing competition from other brands which are all aiming for the top position but in spite of all the competition, the company is able to still remain among the top three best car manufacturers of the country. But the company with its constant launches of new models and upgraded and facelifted versions of the existing models the company is trying to win back the number one position it once had. The Mercedes ESF 2009 becomes the first Experimental Safety vehicle since 1974. Mercedes is a German automobile manufacturer that is well known for its quality and class. The superior functions and features of the brand has become the reason for it to win umpteen numbers of awards. Accepted all over the world this brand has an identity of its own.
The ESF 2009 from Mercedes is an experimental vehicle which will, in near future, become the synonym for safety. The ESF 2009 thinks, makes decisions, and acts hastily. The new safety inventions of the car include a very vivid crash control and crash protection features such as supplementary brake that avoids a crash by inflating braking bags, which helps create friction and increase deceleration, and inflatable metal structures. The exclusively designed seat bolster on sensing any crash concentrated on the sides moves the passengers up to 50mm into the center of the car, which leaves them unhurt.
An airbag fitted into the seat belt, reflective tires, and full emergency braking are the other safety features. Mercedes not only has added new safety features but also has worked on improving its existing safety features. The already existing safety feature of side impact bars can be stated as a good example.
This is a futuristic venture by Mercedes. It shows the concern of the company about the safety of its passengers. When other brands are experimenting and working on many fancy features, Mercedes is setting an example by experimenting on one of the most important feature of a car, safety. The experiment also reflects the importance Mercedes gives to the safety of its passengers.
There might be more experiments conducted and it might take years for Mercedes before it launches the safest car, but such experiments and trials always leave hopes about the bright tomorrow of the car industry. The Mercedes ESF 2009 foretells the safe-driving features of the next generation

The stage is set for the launch of the 2009 Maruti Suzuki Zen Estilo. Speculations apart this new model will not only be a facelifted one, but it will also have some technical changes to it too.
The New Zen Estilo will be spotted with trendy and rejuvenated exteriors, it will have new fog lamps, front bumper and grille.
The car will be equipped with a new engine, a 1.0-litre K-series engine. Maruti has already introduced this new engine in its very successful model, the A-star. The new engine will consume less fuel and has less emission.
The 2009 Maruti Suzuki Zen Estilo will be thus a very eco-friendly car. It seems that the company is getting ready for the Bharat IV emission norms that wil come to effect in India from April 2010.

Customers are getting annoyed with the process of waiting for a long time for getting their Nano car delivered and because of this the customers one by one are cancelling the booking they have made on Nano cars.
The customers are not happy about the long wait for the Nano and the extremely disappointed customers have already started cancelling their bookings. The customers are also supposed to pay EMIs on the Nano even before it will be delivered to them, and this is a factor which is a reason why more and more customers are cancelling their bookings. Depending on the model they have ordered, the customers should pay the EMI from month after the car has been allotted to them. And this leaves them paying the EMI for the car even months before they actually get it.
Within 2010, Tata has promised to finish delivering one lakh Nano to its customers. Most of the customers who have got their allotment for 2010-2011 are those who are cancelling the booking. This will only affect the company and its Nano sales adversely if the trend continues.

The Korean company, Hyundai, is in for the competition, the second generation of Hyundai Equus will be soon travelling to America. There are many reasons why Hyundai is planning for this launch and we know them why.
Hyundai will not be shattered by the news about the growth and acceptance of other Asian cars, such as Indian and Chinese, among the American crowd but it will surely be on the toes. This new car launch can be seen as a product of thought, a thought for sustenance. Never think that the Hyundai is struggling, it is certainly not, but there is certainly suffocation.
The Americans has a huge list of cars to choose from and this Korean made luxury cars must not have been a candy for them until before the economic slowdown, but now it may, as the Americans are trying to reincarnate themselves from all the bitterness’s of the recession and this may make them to think in line with Equus.
Based on an all-new Hyundai Genesis luxury sedan platform, the Hyundai Equus is expected to launch in America by mid 2010. The specifications, pricing and the final name of the car is not yet decided. But all of this is expected to be announced by the company early next year.
Hyundai is anyway expecting a huge line fans for its Equus, but beware, one never knows what will happen to the American car market in the next one year, unlike now,it may not breeze a positive current for the Equus and the one year delay may do harm to Hyundai. So make hay while the sun shines.

The Jazz from Honda has meet the expectations of the car manufacturer by receiving 2032 bookings in just 20 days
This could be a great news for Honda and a very good testimony as to nothing including the pricing of the car or the financial conditions could adversely affect the sales or popularity of a car. And that the Indian car customers would always go with good class vehicles.
The Honda Jazz is a hatchback which is comparatively higher priced than the other cars in the segment and it made a reason for many to think whether the car will perform good sales at this time of economic slowdown, but all the thoughts and speculations have proved wrong.
The Jazz that has been introduced in India is not from the first generation but from the second generation. The car has a very spacious and classy interior, very trendy exterior, and in the whole is a well designed car.
Around the world in 130 countries the Honda has sold over 28 lakh units. In India the car is priced between 7.15 lakh and 7.90 lakh.

Volkswagen Polo is planned to be launched in India by the end of next year. And this launch will end the long wait for this supermini car by the Indian car lovers.
The car was expected to be launched in 2009 but this latest announcement has extended the wait. The booking for the Polo is opened in Europe and the car lovers are eagerly waiting for the fifth-generation Polo. For the Indians the Volkswagen Polo is a new name and will not get hands on it until the end of next year.
There have been some changes made so as to fir into the expectations and needs of the Indian car customers. There has not been any speculations as to what would be the changes made to for it to be introduced into the Indian roads.
The car has very alike exterior features of the Volkswagen Jetta and Passat. But the dual indicators will make it a much sportier one. The base model of the car is available in a 1.2-litre petrol engine and the powerful engine of 1.2 TSI petrol motor will also be available.
The car will carry a price tag that is between Rs 4 lakh and 7 lakh.

The Swedish luxury carmaker, Volvo is making most of the growing luxury car market of India. Volvo is planning to launch its luxury car in India within the next one and a half years. Volvo will be launching S60 in Europe previously to launching in India. Volvo is actually relaunching S60 in Europe and this will happen sometime around the middle of next year.
In the European car market, the S60 was available until this year, but it was completely removed from the European car market in May. But this would be a new addition to India’s luxury cars’ market.
From its parent facility in Belgium, the S60 will be imported to India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU). The car will be a new and advanced version of the S60 previously available in the market.
Once Volvo is able to sell 3,000 units, it is planning to start an assembly plant in India. The pricing of Volvo S60 is not yet available.

Mercedes Benz would be the next company that is preparing to withdraw from the F1 legion. For now this is just a rumour, but it could soon be a fact. BMW last week announced officially that it is planning to withdraw from F1 and will not remain in Formula One after this season.
Before BMW, Honda had taken the decision to quit from the Formula legion. The depression in the economic situation is affecting most the sectors and this could be one reason why companies backing out of the Formula One. And it could also be because the companies are planning to spending on something else which is more profitable. The many disagreements in the F1 can be a reason for the sudden withdrawal by many companies.
If Mercedes Benz decides to withdraw from the Formula One, it would be a great shock to the F1 management. The decision of Mercedes Benz would affect the McLaren team the most as 40 per cent of the team is owned by Mercedes Benz and both Brawn and McLaren is provided the engine by Mercedes Benz.

More than the Korean and Japanese cars, it is now the Indian and Chinese cars that are interesting for the American car buyers. A survey conducted by an American agency recently exposed this interest for Americans for the Asian Brands, especially Chinese and India.
It is true that the American car market is not as strong as it was before but the country is slowly recovering from the poor economical conditions and as a reason this could be seen as an apt time to form a strong stand in the country’s car market. And the Indian and Chinese carmakers will have to wait for some time before they find themselves in a relaxed position in the American car market.
Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra will be the two main car brands that will be representing India in America while the Chinese car market has so many car models to its credit. Now is the time for both the Chinese and the Indian carmakers to make a global impression. As America being the world’s largest car market in the world, both the car markets will get acceptance worldwide if accepted in America

The new facelifted Camry was launched by Toyota Kirloskar Motors Ltd (TKM) on July 31st and that is not all, the company has now plans to end the long wait of the customers by launching Fortuner, a sporty SUV. Initially the SUV was expected to be launched in September of this year but it has been now announced that the company will launch Fortuner on August 24th. This new car is expected to bring Toyota a premier place in the SUV segment of the country.
The customer will have to wait at least one and a half years before they can expect a new model from Toyota as the company will not be launching any new models until it launches its new compact car that will come out only by the end of 2010.
Toyota has codenamed its new compact car 800L. The company has ivested over Rs 3,200 crore for this new project.

BMW is following Honda Motor Co., which announced, last December, that it would quit the premier racing series. In less than eight months time BMW is also quitting from F1.BMW has announced about its decision to be no more a part of F1 and it is confirmed that BMW would withdraw from Formula One by the end of the current season. If financial reasons, which included fall in sales and rise in yen, forced Honda to take such a decision, but for BMW it was some other factors which made them take the decision .
This decision from BMW was least expected. And for the management of Formula One also it is not be a welcoming news. Companies such as Renault or Toyota BMW may mat follow the path of BMW.
BMW was not comfortable with its situation in F1. The BMW team was behind Toyota and Ferrari. Credit Suisse withdrew from being its sponsor which worsened the matters for BMW.
BMW will no more be a part of F1 after this season which is unimaginable for many except for BMW as it knows it has taken the right decision.

Indian customers, more than any other car models, like the luxury car models. And this love for luxury cars can be seen as a reason why major car makers are planning their investment in India. The budget of 2009-2010 does bring good news to the automakers and customers, but the big car segment is going to be profited the most. The price cut most of the companies have offered, and many are promising to offer, clearly reflects the dedication of the car makers to pass on the benefits to the customers.
The small car industry, unlike the last year, didn’t benefit from the budget, but it is the big cars, which got the most of it this year. The excise duty on big cars has been cut down by the government this year and has also announced to reduce the extra excise duty on big cars with a 2,000 cc engine capacity, by Rs 5,000.
The car manufacturers have already announced the different reduction plans they are offering for the Indian car customers.
Companies realize the need for offering the customers some cut in the prices on their big car models. Hindustan Motors was the first company was the first company to offer its models at a reduced price. It was soon followed by Ford, Honda and Hyundai. The companies are offering a reduction of up to 6,000 for their various models. These companies will be joined by Toyota, GM India, Tata, and BMW with their offers.
These small cut in prices, which the companies are offering, does not seem to make a huge difference in the pricing of these big cars that usually comes with a high price tag.
http://carazoocars0.wordpress.com/2009/07/09/big-cars-at-reduced-prices/
The Indian auto industry does not have much to rejoice about the 2009-2010 Budget. The Finance Minister on Monday said that the duties on the big cars will be cut.
The “component” that had been introduced June last year was Rs 15,000 for a car, which has an engine capacity below 2,000 cc and for cars having larger engine capacity it was Rs 20,000. But now, the “component” for SUV’s and large cars were brought down to Rs 15,000 in this budget.
Subsequent to the announcement of the budget, the shares, in the National Stock Exchange, dropped into a negative zone for the major auto manufacturers such as Mahindra & Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki and Ashok Leyland.
The plans to cut the cost of the high-end cars have been announced already. Hindustan Motors Ltd (HML) has already announced its plans to reduce Rs 6,000 for the vehicle of its partner, Mitsubishi. Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI) said that it does not have any plans to cut the cost and the reason is the rupee depreciation in the international market. General Motors, BMW, and Toyota have unveiled that the prices of their models will be cut; the plans of Tata are still pending, but the company has guaranteed to announce their plan very soon.
Government has also reduced the excise duty of the petrol driven trucks from twenty percent to eight percent. The auto part makers’ demand to increase customs duty on finished components and reduce duty on raw materials and the demands of the tyre makers, to cut the customs duty on natural rubber, were not addressed.

“Which car to buy?” is the big question that haunts all potential car buyers. With hundreds of models in the market, it’s a confusion which one to select. But if some one is wise enough to think of the environment before the big purchase, he/she will definitely go for an alternative fuel car.
An alternative fuel car does not run on fossil fuel like conventional vehicles. It is operated by energy stored in the form of electricity in cells. That’s why an alternative fuel car can aptly be called as an electric car. The energy can come from fossil fuels, nuclear power, tidal power, the sun and the wind etc. Power derived from these sources can be stored in the form of electricity.
Electric cars have rechargeable batteries, which need to be recharged after a given mileage. The fuel cells or batteries can be recharged either by refilling or by connecting to a plug to an electric power source.
But these cars are in reality are less exciting. Electric cars come with fat price tag compared to customary fuel cars. Moreover, these cars can not provide the comfort and luxury that of fossil fuel cars. These cars just wouldn’t perform like regular gasoline-powered car if the air conditioning is turned on.
Whatsoever it is, an electric car is a green car. Apart from saving fuels, this car does not emit CO2 and contributes to the green house effect by keeping the air clean.

Honda might re-launch its Hybrid car, Honda Civic Hybrid, in India. There are speculations that the union government will cut down the import duty on Hybrid cars or similar environment friendly vehicles. Honda was not able to continue its sale of Civic Hybrid because of the very high import duty that has been imposed by the government. Honda had to pay an import duty of 104 per cent to bring the Completely Built Units (CBU) of Civic Hybrid to India. This, combined with the VAT and excise duty, made Civic Hybrid a financially heavy vehicle.
Honda’s Civic Hybrid is the initially launched hybrid car in India. Civic Hybrid has a 3-stage i-Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control (VTEC) engine with the option of three valve timings such as low-speed, high-speed, and valve deactivated mode. The ‘idle-stop’ feature helps in saving fuel and minimizing emissions by turning off the engine temporarily. With very luxurious and cozy interiors and striking exteriors and a wide range of eco-friendly features, the Civic Hybrid is truly a “green” car.
In India, Civic Hybrid was priced at Rs. 21 Lakh initially but Honda had to, in two months, bring down the price to Rs 13 Lakh to clear the stock. The price of Civic Hybrid, that is expected to be re-launched, is not available, but the price of the re-launched version will surely be much less because of the dropped import duty.

The position of Maruti Suzuki in India does not have a substitute. Maruti has succeeded in positioning itself in a very safe position. Having a very strong base in the country and a huge number of satisfied customers, the brand enjoys great amount of acceptance and appreciation and the ever-increasing sales of the Maruti brands give a clear picture of this.
The joint effort of Maruti and the renowned Japanese auto maker Suzuki was successful in launching Maruti 800 in 1983. Maruti 800 broke the monotony of Premier Padmini and Hindustan Ambassador, and it was a great relief for both the Indian buyers and the Indian automobile industry. Now Maruti has a huge range of models to its credit. Till recent years, Maruti 800 remained as the largest selling compact. Alto, Zen, SX4, and Swift also bought good business for Maruti. The new recent models of Maruti, A-star and Ritz, has already started bringing in good business.
Maruti tops the car sales in Indian and factors such as economic recession or the heavy competition from other car brands does not seem to have affected the sales of Maruti.
Maruti has never disappointed the Indian car buyers and has always been customer oriented. Trendy design, high performance, reliable service, and affordable price are the few features that keep the business live and profitable for Maruti.

General Motors 'bankruptcy issue that had hit the headlines a couple of days back shook the automotive industry to its core. It was quite natural that the focus suddenly shifted to GM India, the Indian subsidiary of General motors, as a normal fall-out of this piece of news. Armed before-hand to fend off the concerns, GM India came up with the most logic explanations that cleared the air of doubt about company's stability.
They said that the bankruptcy petition filed by the parent establishment will actually strengthen US manufacturer as the judge has the power to waive the obligations and contracts that's unaffordable to the company. This will help the brand to reemerge like a phoenix and become more competitive.
Moreover, General motor considers Indian market as a key area to bank on in their revival strategy. General Motors' decision to enter small car segment will actually help the GM India. This gives the Indian subsidiary extra confidence to go ahead with the small car projects in India.
As the parent establishment views India as a mini car market that would attract demand for small car from other world markets, GM India is sure that the Indian customers, suppliers, dealers and all other stakeholders will read what is written on the wall. This positions GM India at a safer place to confront the itches of bankruptcy issue related to its parent company to serve other markets across the world.
