Andrew Jackson led American milita down to New Orleans to defend the harbor. They ended up embarrasing the British. This battle could have been avoided because Britan already surrendered, but because of poor travel they didn't get the message.
Delegates from both Britan and the United States met in Belgium to end the war. One of the agreements was that Britan had to leave the Northwest Territory.

On June 12, the U.S. declared war on Britain. This happened because the French wanted to ruin Britain by destroying British trade. In return the British and the French put blockades up which had disastrous effects on the U.S.
