The Croydon Advertiser has held a knife summit in a bid to tackle the ever growing epidemic of stabbings in the town. Five brave families of people stabbed to death agreed to come and discuss how to tackle the problem. Here are the stories of the loved ones they will never see again.

  Nilanthan Murddi was killed by a single stab wound to the neck after a brawl in the early hours of the morning. The 17-year-old was attacked as he stood with a group of friends. A homeless labourer, 30-year-old Steven Braithwaite, has been charged with his murder.

  Evren Anil died after a horrific attack in Upper Norwood, when he was set upon by two teenage thugs he had confronted for throwing a half-eaten chocolate bar into his sister's car. The senseless killing shocked the country and Evren's family have been vocal in their calls for more to be done to stop similar attacks.

  Billy Ward was knifed to death after a brawl broke out on the N159 night bus as it travelled through Shirley to New Addington. Two youths have been charged with his murder and are awaiting trial.

  Eugene Attram was knifed to death aged just 16 during a horrific street battle. Ashley Rookwood, 18, now faces a life sentence after being found guilty of his murder.

  Gavin Brown, then 17, was stabbed by schoolboy Adam Eastmond in Parkfields Recreational Ground, in Shirley,. Gavin had been trying to take the eight-inch blade off of Eastmond, then 15, when he was stabbed in the chest and neck.
