Forbes beat and sexually assaulted Tillman at her north Fort Collins apartment early July 5. He then tried to destroy DNA evidence by setting her home on fire, but Tillman was able to leap from a second-story window.
Tillman suffered a stroke on the way to the hospital and endured nerve damage on her right side and other side effects of a severe beating, police said.
Tillman wrote a message to Forbes that had to be read out loud at the September hearing because she has difficulty speaking.
At that hearing, Forbes told Till man's family that "I'm somewhere, deep down (messed) up, evil."

In Denver District Court, Forbes pled guilty to killing Kenia Monge and is sentenced to life in prison. He also pleads guilty to the Larimer County charges of attacking Lydia Tillman, for which he will serve 48 years in prison after his life term. It was a plea deal with prosecutors not to get the death penalty and sex offenses, according to sources.
