Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney won the straw poll with 4,516 votes Saturday in Ames.
There were 14,302 votes cast. No. 2 Gov. Mike Huckabee had 2,587 votes. No. 3 Kansas Sen. Sam Brownback had 2,192 votes. No. 4. Colorado U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo had 1,961 votes. No. 5 U.S. Rep. Ron Paul had 1,305 votes. No. 6 former Wisconsin Gov. Tommy Thompson with 1,039 or 7.3 percent of the vote. No. 7 was former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson with 203 votes. No. 8 Rudy Giuliani with 183 votes. No. 9 was Duncan Hunter with 174 votes. No. 10 was Arizona Sen. John McCain with 101 votes. No. 11 John Cox had 41 votes.
Officials said that an estimated 30,000 to 33,000 people attended the straw poll. Voting wrapped up at 6 p.m. Results were delayed for an hour and a half because officials had to hand count votes from one of the voting machines
There are 11 GOP candidates. McCain and Giuliani did not participate in the straw poll. Romney, Tancredo, Cox, Paul, Huckabee, Hunter, Thompson and Brownback were in Ames.

Democratic candidates Clinton, Edwards, Obama, Gravel, Richardson and Kucinich attend.
Only Kucinich and Gravel support Gay Marraige while the others support Civil Unions.
Senators Dodd and Biden declined invitations due to scheduling conflicts. Every Republican candidate declined an invitation including Rudy Giuliani, who is for several gay rights. Dodd posted answers to many of the questions on his website.
