17 años han tenido que pasar para que el Real Madrid y el Atlético de Madrid se vuelvan a ver las caras en una eliminatoria de la Copa del Rey. Y en unos días veremos si se repite la historia de aquella temporada 93-94 que blancos y rojiblancos la escribieron así: Partido de ida de los octavos de final en el Santiago Bernabéu: Zamorano abrió el marcador, pero Caminero le dio la vuelta con dos tantos. A pocos minutos para el final, Michel hizo el definitivo empate a 2 de penalty. La vuelta se antojaba emocionante pero con cierta ventaja para los rojiblancos que jugaban en su casa. Claro que eso no quitó para que el primer gol que subiera al marcador fuera blanco, de Butragueño y de cabeza, poco habitual. Empató Juanito, pero Luis Enrique y Mikel Lasa, que marcó el gol de su vida completaron el camino de la clasificación. Porque aunque el Atlético hizo el último del encuentro no fue suficiente para conseguir el pase. Fue la última victoria del RM al Atlético en cuartos de la Copa del Rey. Les habían vencido en esa eliminatoria en tres de cuatro cruces. Pero los números van más allá. De los 15 encuentros a doble partido entre ambos , los madridistas pasaron en 10. Lo que significa que el Real Madrid ha escrito más veces que el Atlético la palabra victoria en su libro de la Copa del Rey.

Gonzalo Higuain discharged from hospital
Real Madrid's Gonzalo Higuain was released from hospital om Wednesday after a successful operation on the herniated disc in his back. The Argentine is now resting and ready to begin his rehabilitation. The striker's surgery took place on Tuesday after noon at the NorthWestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago by doctor Richard Fessler. Higuain was accompanied by Head of Medical Services for Sanitas Carlos Diez. Diez assured fans that the surgery went very well and highlighted that it was the least invasive possible. The doctor was optimistic and estimated that the time it will take for Higuain to start training with his teammates again will be between six and ten weeks.

El día en que la FIFA eligió a José Mourinho como Mejor entrenador de 2010, Real Madrid Televisión pudo acompañar en este viaje a la expedición madridista... A primera hora de la mañana partían de Valdebebas hasta el aeropuerto de Torrejón de Ardoz el míster del Real Madrid acompañado por Iker Casillas y Cristiano Ronaldo, ambos integrantes del once ideal de la FIFA 2010. En el aeropuerto ya les esperaban el Director General Jorge Valdano, y el Director de Relaciones Institucionales Emilio Butragueño... Vuelo hasta Zurich sin sobresaltos. Tiempo apacible durante las horas que duró el trayecto. Y una vez que tomaron tierra, la expedición blanca ya firmó los primeros autógrafos... Del aeropuerto, directivos, jugadores y míster pusieron rumbo al hotel donde aprovecharon para descansar en las horas previas a la gala de la FIFA. Hasta allí llegaron todos y una vez más pudieron sentir el cariño de los aficionados que se agolpaban a la entrada del salón donde se iba a celebrar la gala. Los jóvenes y no tan jóvenes luchaban por conseguir un autógrafo de Cristiano Ronaldo, Iker Casillas o José Mourinho... Los jugadores y el entrenador del Real Madrid atendieron solícitos a todos los aficionados que allí se encontraban firmando camisetas, libros, fotografías o balones. Real Madrid players were visited by NFL Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chad Ochocinco, who is a follower of the team and played football as a child. Ochocinco is a fan of Cristiano Ronaldo and was introduced to the squad by coach Jose Mourinho. Cristiano Ronaldo and Ochocinco are friends, and the Portuguese player was one of the first to greet the NFL receiver. Kaka, Xabi Alonso, Pepe, Albiol and Jose Mourinho greeted him in the VIP Room before training started and showed him the pitch. The coach also jokingly suggested Ochocinco should train with the team.

Iker Casillas Best world´s goalkeeper
Just a few days ago he was presented the the Golden Glove award by FIFA for being the best goalkeeper at last summer's World Cup finals and now, Iker Casillas is the proud recipient of yet another accolade as recognition of his outstanding form over the past 12 months. He is already regarded as the undisputed number one goalkeeper on the planet and now it's official, for the third year running, Iker has been named the world's best goalkeeper by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics. And only a couple of days ago he IFFHS proclaimed Jose Mourinho as coach of the year for 2010. As far as the total number of points polled were concerned, Casillas was streets ahead of his nearest rival - the Whites skipper gained 304 points while Inter Milan keeper Julio César came second with 124 Completing the top three positions was Chelsea goalkeeper Peter Cech, while other Spanish players appeared lower down the order - Victor Valdés came sixth with 38 puntos, David De Geta, came in at 17th place just ahead of Pepe Reina. Iker has dominated the IFFHS annual listing on a regular basis over the past few years and that can provide no clearer argument that the Whites' number one, is simply, the best.
