J Allard leaving Microsoft after 19 years.
Question 2: Why was the event important to the industry?
J Allard was one of the founding fathers of the Xbox and the Xbox 360. He also worked on the Zune media player (Microsoft's answer to the ipod). He will retire this fall, so nobody is sure how this will change the industry right now but we will know in the next few years.

Nolan Bushnell is returning home to Atari after he left in 1079.
Question 2: Why was the event important to the industry?
Bushnell is replacing Phil Harrison,who has left for unknown reasons. This will prove to be a very big thing within the next few years. For all we know Atari may just enter back into the console stream after it's failure with the Jaguar. For the gaming industry we can hope that with Bushnell's return to Atari they will come back bigger then ever.

For years the Xbox 360, Playstaion 3, and the Wii have been fighting for supremacy. As of right now we have a leader in the Wii. To some people surprise the Wii has sold more consoles then the Xbox 360 even though the Xbox has been out longer. Its no surprise when compared to the PS3 for the price was too high on the PS3. With its motion controlled games and lower price point.

The size of the movie industry is one of the biggest in the world. But as of April 2008 things have show signs of a change. This event shows us that if the gaming industry had sales that could surpass the movie industry who knows who or what else it could surpass in the near future. It also shows that games are growing at a rapid rate.

The battle between Blu-Ray and HD DVD was finally put to a rest.
Question 2: Why was the event important to the industry?
This event was important because the playstation 3 was built around blu-ray technology. If HD DVD had won the fight and blu-ray lost the playstaion would have found it very hard to succeed any further then it already had. The final blow to HD DVD was when Wal-mart said they would start carrying Blu-Ray players.

The Wii remote was one of the most advanced things to happen to the industry within the past 10 years. with its one handed controls and full motion capabilities it was some new that consumers wanted. This changed how people played games over all. Instead of sitting there playing people where forced to stand up and move to play. This got a lot of new age groups to really enjoy playing games.

You know its there when the three normal green lights turn to three flashing red lights. Microsoft had increased its warranty of the 360 two more years for each console to fix this error. It takes about 4-8 weeks for them to receive your 360, fix it, and send it back to you.

Rockstars hidden "sex minigame" in GTA San Andreas.

After the first exposure to the "hot coffee" mod on the PC version of the game Rockstar denied they did it. About a month later everyone knew they did. The same "mod" was found on the PS2 version of the game. The PS2 version come on a unmoddable disk,but a gamer can enter codes to unlock special things in a game that programers put in. A code was found online and attempted by many people just to see what all the hype was about. What they found out was it worked. When Rockstar was asked about this one they had no comment.

When the Xbox was released Microsoft tried to take over where Sega had failed withe the Dreamcast. This was the online capabilities for a home system. They did this to try and compete with the online computer gaming industry. When it was released consumers knew that it had online capabilities but it was not yet accessible. About a year later Xbox live was released but it had a small subscription fee to go along with it. Within a few months they realized they had succeeded with over 250,000 subscribers signed up even with them all having to pay a fee to use it. Over the next few years it would grow to be one of the top online gaming communities around. On April 15 2010 Xbox live was no longer available on the Xbox but is still on the Xbox 360.

In June 2000 Microsoft went and acquired Bungie Software.

This was done to "combine the strength of two outstanding software companies". This gave Microsoft exclusive rights to most current games at that time as well as any and all future games they created. This had a big impression on the gaming industry in the next few years. Being that Microsoft was releasing its first console the Xbox they needed as much help that they could get. With the acquisition Microsoft reserved Halo as its first big game and that pushed Microsoft into the console wars in replace of Sega.
