• Palmito Ranch
  May 13, 1865

  The war was already over. 220 Union soldiers lie dead and 100 are captured. The most ironic thing about this battle is that the Confederates had already surrendered.

• Appomattox Couthouse
  Apr 9, 1865

  Lee was retreating to Richmond, VA and was cut off by Union forces at Appomattox Courthouse. This is where he and all of his men surrendered. It was a peaceful surrender and every soldier, including Lee, walked away unbothered.

• The Red River Campaign
  May 22, 1864

  Union forces were supposed to link up with another smaller unit. The Confederates had realized by this time that they were losing the war after numerous defeats. General Taylor was the Confedereate leader at this time.

• Battle of Sabine Pass
  Sep 8, 1863

  The unit has to seize Sabine Pass to have the city of Beaumont and Houston within the reach of their forces. Forty two Confederates held the fort. Three hundred union soldiers died and two ships were lost. The forty two men inside the fort received medals for their actions that day.

• Seige of Vicksburg
  Jul 4, 1863

  This battle took place from May 18 - July 4, 1863. The Garrison was not able to hold out much longer. They were running out of supplies and troops. The Union cut off their communication and supply lines and after a few days the Confederate troops inside the Garrison surrendered to Ulysses S. Grant.

• Battle of Gettysburg
  Jun 30, 1863

  General Robert E. Lee wants to lead a second invasion into Pennsylvania. They want the northern government to give up their proescution of the war. 46,000 -51,000 men are dead, wounded or missing. The Union won.

  Jan 1, 1863

  President Lincoln wrote this document on Jan. 1, 1863. It freed all slaves that lived in the south.

• Battle of Galveston Harbor
  Jan 1, 1863

  The Union sees the Texas port of Galveston. They gain control of sea ports and the Confederate steamboats called the Neptune and Bayou city capture 300 men and the Neptune sinks in the battle.

  Apr 12, 1861

  The Confederate troops in Fort Sumter were running out of supplies and the union troops were frantically trying to strengthen artilllery batteries around the fort.
