The Wii, the most current console out, was created in 2006, and was a whole different brand of video game consoles, and was revolutionary. The Wii was your basic console, with the cords, games, and controllers. But the new part was in the controllers. The controllers were held in the hand and were pointed at a sensor bar tat recognized the controller, and from there it all went uphill. This console became extremely popular and was also difficult, along with it being so much fun. The Wii was something that could be played with the entire family, and the most family played games were Wii sports, in which you played a variety of sports with a character you created on the Mii channel, Wii Resorts, and Super Mario Bros. Wii.
The release of the famous PS3 has finally arrived, and is better than ever. The PS3, while following the same basic design as the PS2, is slightly bigger, and a whole lot better. The menu that pops up when you turn on the PS3 is very much the same menu that you see when you turn on the PSP. It is also fully customizable. Another thing that should be mentioned is the PlayStation Network. The PlayStation Network, which requires the internet, allows you to search for movies to download, video games, video game demos, and much more. There are free downloads, but most of them cost money.
The Xbox 360 was Microsoft's game console for the seventh generation, and it has turned out to be a giant hit. The Play Station Portable, or the PSP for short, was a huge step for Sony in hand held gaming. This was basically a portable version of the PS2, and was capable of more as well. It could browse the internet, it could listen to music. it could watch movies, and many more. All of the PSP's features made it basically a hand held computer, but in a way better. The downside to using the internet, was that the websites you could use, depended on the amount of data you had on your memory stick.
Microsoft's Xbox was very important because it was one of the first consoles that relied almost entirely on the internet support, as it did come from an internet company.
The Game cube was Nintendo's response to the Play Station 2, and it was their first disc based system. The problem with the Game Cube was that it lacked third party gameplay, which meant you could not play online.

Mario is a character that was dreamed up by the genius Shigeru Miyamoto, and has one of the longest video game series in the history of video games. He began his rise to stardom in platform games such as Donkey Kong, and from here he went up. He has been in just about every genre of video game, including sports, racing and many more. Mario, is a small Italian plumber that lives in what is called the mushroom kingdom, who has to continuously save the princess from the mutated turtle like bowser, and his army of koopas and goombas. The voice of Mario has been Charles Martinet since 1995. Mario is also the game company Nintendo’s mascot, and is most likely the famous video game character of all times. He is still making new games today, his newest one being Super Mario Galaxy 2. But Mario isn’t the only hero in this story. His brother, Luigi is often forgotten, and left out of the picture. Luigi has been in every game along with Mario, and deserves just as much recognition as Mario.
Ted Dabney and Nolan Bushnell, the inventors of a coin operated version of the popular game space war. They allowed this game to be sold by Nutting associates, but they felt that they weren’t getting their share of the profits. This led them to starting their own company, which was called Atari Inc. They founded this company in 1972. The next game that they released was, yep you guessed it, Pong! The game is very much like table tennis, and was very simple. There were over 19,000 Pong machines sold, Not only did this create many imitators, but it also made it the first successful video game console.
