This is a time line about US interventions in other countries: military, covert, economic.
The intention is not to attack or discredit my country. Rather it is a means to know the truth about our past in order to help us urge our government to stops repeating the same mistakes.
For decades the USA intervened in other countries affairs in the name of stopping communism. Did any of those interventions really stop communism? I don’t think so; communism failed more or less on its own (in spite of all the credit President Reagan gets for that).
In the process, these interventions caused the USA to be hated in many parts of the world, making us less secure, not more.
The Iraq War is the latest example. Yes, there is a difference in that this war was justified as a fight against extreme Muslim terrorists, not communism. The war in Afghanistan was that. The Iraq War clearly is not, and is a clear case of the USA repeating mistakes it has made many times in the past.
Let's learn, and in the process restore our country what it was intended to be.
