BRUNCH WITH SJP
Fashionista.com: Last weekend, I smacked myself out of my post-fashion week meets post-midterm week daze and hurried over to Sweetie Pie on Greenwich Ave for a brunch hosted by Elle’s fabulous creative director Joe Zee and NYC’s Fashion Laureate: Sarah Jessica Parker. While the purpose of the brunch was to discuss the launch of SJP’s newest fragrance, SJP NYC, inspired by Carrie Bradshaw, the environment lent itself to relaxed girl talk rather than a serious business breakfast.

MORE MURMUR ON SATC 3
GossipCop.com: “The Sex And The City girls are shooting a third movie alongside the sequel – as they fear they’re getting old,” begins a piece in the online version of British OK! The article, which is being picked up elsewhere, claims some of the scenes that seemingly were filmed to throw fans off the plot of “Sex and the City 2″ are “for the third – and final – film in the series. “The reason the second and third films are being shot at the same time? According to OK!’s so-called “movie source,” Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis, and Kim Cattrall want to” look a lot younger on screen when the third movie comes out in a couple of years. They want to go out on a high.”

SEX AND DUBAI?
According to our fabulous friend Melissa Braverman over at Single Gal In The City, the Sex and the City Sequel might be stopping by Dubai! She writes:
During my visits to the set of the “Sex And The City” movie back in ‘07, I became friendly with security chief Khalid. Last week, I had the pleasure of catching up with Khalid over drinks at the Gansevoort Hotel’s swanky rooftop bar. A showbiz security veteran who guards A-list stars and has been with SATC since its inception. Of the upcoming SATC sequel, he revealed a stunning plot twist and that, in addition to London, cast and crew will head overseas to Dubai for part of the two-month shoot.

FILE THIS UNDER “NEVER HAPPENING”
SnarkyGossip.com: So all of us who are fans of Sex and the City were excited to hear that we were going to get another movie, right? Except listen to what is being rumored as the storyline. You might want to breathe really deeply and go to your happy place, because seriously, this will PISS. YOU. OFF.
Are you there? Happy place? Okay:
Big loses his bazillions and has to move to London in a one-bedroom apartment. While there he cheats on Carrie and after she flies home to NYC after confronting him, she finds out she’s pregnant. OF COURSE.
There’s so many things wrong with this that I don’t really know where to begin, honestly. First of all, Big losing his money. We don’t want to see Big without money, because frankly we’re materialistic and that’s a huge part of his appeal - that he can jet off all over the world at a moment’s notice and buy Carrie $500 pairs of shoes. Second, sersly - cheating? Didn’t we kind of already do that with Steve and Miranda? And third, Carrie is too old to get pregnant. She looks like someone’s Nana. I’m sorry, but it needs to be said.
What do you think of this rumored storyline? I doubt this is the real one, but it’s fun to speculate. What would your perfect SATC storyline be?

SEX-Y FASHION AWARDS
BoxWish.com: There have been critics (punk pioneer Vivienne Westwood to name but one), there have been crazes (the wedding dress – which Westwood designed and donated to the film incidentally, the Eiffel Tower handbag and obviously the Manola Blahnik blue high heels) and now there could be a prestigious industry award as Patricia Field’s clothes from fashionista favourite Sex and the City have been nominated for an award at the Costume Designers Guild 11th Annual Awards.
Field will face competition in the contemporary film category from Laura Jean Shannon and Rebecca Bentien who dressed Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow and co. in summer blockbuster Iron Man; Ann Roth who worked some summer style for Meryl Streep and Amanda Seyfried in Mamma Mia!; Amy Westcott who got to grips with spandex for Mickey Rourke’s The Wrestler and Golden Globe winner Slumdog Millionaire.
The awards will be handed out at a gala hosted by Debra Messing at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel on 17th February.

BRITNEY TO STAR IN SATC SEQUEL?
MTV.co.uk: It is reported that Sarah Jessica Parker is keen to cast Britney Spears in the next Sex And The City movie.
The SATC actress thinks the Womanizer singer would be perfect in the eagerly anticipated sequel to last year’s hit film, says Heat magazine.
It seems Britney who made her cameo on US TV show How I Met Your Mother last year would play a young relative of SJP’s character Carrie Bradshaw.
Sarah Jessica told friends: “My is to have someone like Britney Spears move to New York as my cousin or niece and Carrie would show her the ropes.”
It wouldn’t be the first time Britney has been on the big screen, the 27 year old Disney star appeared in chick flick Crossroads seven years ago.
Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon are all expected to to join SJP in the SATC sequel.

FYI: BIGGER IS BETTER
Variety.com: Director Michael Patrick King wanted something especially big for the closing credits of the “Sex and the City” movie version. And with “All Dressed in Love,” sung by the film’s co-star Jennifer Hudson, that’s exactly what he got.
“After Jennifer recorded the vocals, we asked Michael if he wanted it any bigger,” recalls Salaam Remi, renowned music producer (Amy Winehouse, Fugees) who oversaw the film’s soundtrack. “Michael said, ‘What do you mean bigger? If she sings those high notes any louder, ground beef is gonna pop out of her throat.’ “
Remi had enlisted the help of singer Cee-Lo (of Gnarls Barkley fame) to compose the lyrics and melody, while musician-producer Jack Splash (Alicia Keys), a regular Cee-Lo collaborator, envisioned the basic sound.
A bold, disco-infused soul hit that showcases the divalike power of Hudson’s formidable pipes, the song was purposely meant to make audiences feel “like they were walking on air as they left the theater,” Splash says, “which is why Salaam kept pushing me and Cee-Lo to keep going bigger, bigger, bigger. When you’re doing music that’s not related to film, you gotta be careful that you don’t get too grandiose for people’s sensibilities. But when you’re talking about theater or film — big totally works.”

DETAILS ON SEX AND THE CITY SEQUEL!!
MTV News looked back at 2008 with Sarah Jessica Parker, for an exclusive conversation about the year that was Sex and to get a sneak peak at the plans for a “Sex and the City” sequel.
MTV: The release and excitement surrounding “Sex and the City” felt more like an event on the scale of a superhero flick than a romantic comedy.
Sarah Jessica Parker: The one thing I regret is I never roamed around Manhattan and saw it [with the crowds]. I was too embarrassed about getting caught. I was afraid it would look like I was gloating. I do regret not seeing all those ladies — and some men — dressed up in their finery. But it was thrilling to hear about.
MTV: Do you feel that any of the characters didn’t get the attention in the story they deserved?
Parker: We always felt that we wanted to give all the women a story. You can imagine that, when you’re looking for financing, how not everybody wants to hear that. But these actresses are deserving. That also meant we had to fight for a movie that was over two hours. That was challenging. I would have wanted to see more of Jennifer Hudson. She was a real gift to us. Her age, her look, her energy was great. We did the best we could. I would have loved more of all the women.
MTV: Where do we stand on a sequel today?
Parker: We are talking about it. We’ve had very general conversations about the idea. That’s the big hurdle: the idea. The studio is very enthusiastic, which is lovely and seductive. We’re at the place where [writer/director] Michael [Patrick King] has a wealth of stories so now it’s, “We think we have this story and how do we put this together and are we completely sure that it’s the right thing to do?” That’s challenging. I would do these forever but is it right for the audience? Is this the story that we can tell well? These are the questions I have to ask myself or I’m not being fair to the franchise. That’s where we are.

VIVIENNE WESTWOOD’S SEX PROPOSAL
As we wait for the official word that a sequel to Sex and the City: The Movie is definitely going to happen, Vivienne Westwood has revealed her own plans for a follow-up movie.
At this week’s 10th anniversary bash of the Claridges Bar, the designer told Grazia that she has some story for a sequel.
“No one has mentioned that to me as of yet but I will tell you that I have had a great for the plot of a sequel,” she spilled.
“It came to me only the other day and I think it’s a brilliant story. I’ve been trying to get hold of Sarah Jessica Parker to suggest it but I haven’t managed to reach her so far. I’m probably too late if they’re already talking about the sequel but I hope not as it’s really rather a good I’m not telling you any more until I’ve spoken to Sarah Jessica though.”
Westwood acted as a consultant on the first film, designing the now infamous wedding dress that Carrie gets jilted at the altar in. The gown was then showcased in the window of Westwood’s Conduit Store to help promote the film’s debut.
I wonder what Viv has in mind? Perhaps Carrie has a daughter in the sequel and she hands down the gown to her? Or maybe we’ll finally see Samantha tie the knot and she gets to wear the dress? So many possibilities LOL…thanks for all of your suggestions in the previous post, you guys have some GREAT Keep them coming!!

WHAT DO YOU WANT IN A SEX SEQUEL?
The Sex and the City movie sequel is all but confirmed—Kim Cattrall says it’s on, Sarah Jessica Parker says a few details still need to be ironed out but we pretty much know it will happen, sooner or later! So I ask you, what do you want out of round two? Entertainment Weekly had their own>:
• Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) and Big (Chris Noth): Big loses his money in the current economic crisis, and Carrie’s career goes from Vogue to PopWatch a blog. They’re forced to reevaluate their priorities and discover happiness isn’t just a walk-in closet.
• Samantha (Cattrall): Her PR career takes a nosedive, and she tries to revive her fortunes through a Bravo-style reality show called PR Lady. (She also admits that she could’ve stayed in Los Angeles with Smith — and just not worked for him — because other people in Hollywood have, in fact, been known to need publicists.)
• Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) and Steve (David Eigenberg): Having seem them deal with marital issues in the first film, we want these two to be happy….We also want Miranda to become involved at Brady’s school, coaching soccer (even though she’s never played soccer) and facing off with other moms at PTA.
• Charlotte (Kristin Davis) and Harry (Evan Handler): After extension discussion, and remembering that Charlotte kinda bores us, we decided that she needs serious drama. At first, we thought health scare, which would lead to a nice Samantha-Charlotte moment. (Samantha feeding Carrie in bed was one of my favorite moments in the first film.) But then, we thought about how underused Harry was in that movie, and we determined that he should just go ahead and die offscreen in the sequel. If you make it a random act of violence in Manhattan, you not only get Charlotte losing her hard-fought happy ending, but also all four women suddenly angry with the show’s fifth lady, New York. Imagine a sobbing Charlotte telling Samatha that unlike her, she didn’t choose to go life alone. And Samantha telling Charlotte she doesn’t have to. Tissues, please.
or this one from TheFrisky.com:
“Sex And The Small Town” — Big gets a sweet new gig, but his new office is in…Iowa. Gulp! Will Carrie and her Manolos fit in small town America? Will she be able to find anything to wear at her local mall? And will the other women, still living the big city life in NYC, come and visit her EVER?
What do you want to see?

FASHION ROCKS NO MORE
More bad news coming from the magazine world. Condé Nast has decided not to produce Fashion Rocks next year — both the annual supplement to sixteen Condé Nast titles and accompanying variety show at Radio City Music Hall will go “on hiatus for 2009,” Condé Nast president Richard Beckman said in a statement. Beckman cited “toughness in the ad market” as the reason for the cutbacks. We’re sad to see the show go, because that was one killer red carpet: the most recent Fashion Rocks show (back in the halcyon days of September) included Beyoncé, Justin Timberlake, Lil Wayne, Rihanna, and Mariah Carey.
The cancellation of Fashion Rocks comes on the heels of major downsizing at Men’s Vogue.

THE ART OF SOPHISTICATION
Catherine Zeta-Jones, Keira Knightley and Thandie Newton are flying the flag for British sophistication, having been named as three of the most sophisticated women in the world in a survey conducted by the London and New York based fast finishing school, High Society Secrets. Rated on intelligence, movement, walking, sitting, posture, grace, elegance, style, grooming and confidence, the three actresses are joined by fellow beauties Kristin Davis, Natalie Portman, Nicole Kidman (who topped the poll), Lucy Liu, Katherine Heigl, Debra Messing and Carla Bruni, all of whom made the cut. “British women used to be seen throughout the world as sophisticated and stylish, competing only with the French for world elegance,” explains Isabella Beaton, High Society Secrets programme director. “We have lost some of our grace, but it is easy to put back, we just don’t get taught the basics of elegance anymore.”

L’UOMO AFRICA
Franca Sozzani’s all-black July issue of Italian Vogue was arguably her buzziest to date. Despite these efforts to promote diversity in the fashion industry, the runways at Milan Fashion Week last month remained pretty much just as white as they always are, giving Sozzani even more reason not to stop with the all-black issue. She’ll continue to push boundaries with November’s L’Uomo Vogue, which she’s dedicating to Africa. Franca got the from Forest Whitaker and Bernard-Henri Lévy, who guest-edited the issue. Robin Givhan writes in the Washington Post:
She wanted to focus on people, projects and She did not want to make an aesthetic statement about Africa. So she didn’t fill the magazine with images of Western models in overpriced vaguely ethnic frocks. And unlike a recent issue of India’s Vogue magazine, which sparked outrage among activists and humanitarians, this one won’t show peasants posing with $5,000 handbags. … “Fashion is not only about clothes,” Sozzani says. She broadens it so that it speaks to the vague and all-encompassing notion of
In fact, Sozzani has avoided using models in L’Uomo Vogue. “I think it’s ridiculous to see a 16-year-old wearing clothes he’ll never afford at his age,” she tells Givhan. Instead of models, Sozzani photographs men and women in their own clothes. Next month’s issue will feature Whitaker, Quincy Jones, John Legend, Matt Damon, and Michelle Obama “all expressing their affection for and their personal connection to Africa,” Givhan writes. Half the issue’s ad revenue will go to Africa-related charities.
And though L’Uomo Vogue’s circulation is a mere 80,000, the people it reaches are the folks who decide what’s fashionable and what’s beautiful. So the could trickle down to mainstream outlets. We hope they pay attention.

PREPPING UP
The gorgeous Heidi Klum has never been one to miss an opportunity to don fancy dress (who could forget her brilliant cat outfit last Halloween?), so she jumped at the chance to get a little dressed up at her make-up launch in Los Angeles last week.
The Project Runway host unveiled ‘The Heidi Klum Collection’ for Very Sexy Makeup dressed in a shiny silver dress, great big grey heels - and a massive pair of fairy wings.
The supermodel is obviously gearing up for this year’s Halloween costume - we look forward to seeing what she comes up with!

FASHION ROCK STAR
TrendMill.com: We all know that Victoria ‘Posh’ Beckham has a couture style that can’t be duplicated. Not since Madonna wore cone bras on stage has someone commanded our attention the way V does. And like her style or not you have to respect a woman who has the courage to wear the new Louboutin’s for Rodarte.
These mega heels hit the runway back in the spring but finally hit stores like Sax and Niemans this fall. Spiked perfection and a variety of styles should keep everyone happy. Although for my taste Posh has the right That gold is fantastic.

WONDER WOMAN
Diane Von Furstenberg celebrated the launch of her Wonder Woman–inspired holiday collection this week at her studio. When asked what her superhuman power she would have if she could, she said: “I would destroy all weapons.” But how would you destroy all weapons without using a weapon? “I don’t know. I’d just do it.” She also said she’d wear a jersey dress and call herself Super Diane. Heroic! But perhaps the biggest highlight of the collection is the comic book she penned to go along with it called The Adventures of Diva, Viva & Fifa, illustrated by Konstantin Kakanias, and published by DC Comics. The book is a limited edition for the holidays, available in store or online for $25. One hundred percent of proceeds benefit Vital Voices, a nongovernmental organization that embodies Von Furstenberg’s goal to empower women to find inner strength on a global scale. NEW HAVEN CAN WAIT
This show just keeps getting more bitchy by the week!! And I love it!! lol Check out a recap of last nights episode of Gossip Girl, New Haven Can Wait.
GossipGirlInsider.com: For one Gossip Girl character, it’s a nightmare straight out of My Fair Lady. For a bunch of them, it’s a trip to the big dance (a.k.a. Yale).
Just as she is about to drink the orange juice that Dorota brings to her in bed, Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) sees Page Six with a picture of Serena (Blake Lively). It just fuels her fire against her ex-BFF even more.
But Blair isn’t the only one who wants to go to Yale. Dan, Nate and Chuck all decide to visit on the same day. Dan legitimately wants to go to the school for their English department, Nate considers it a backup school because he would rather go to a school (USC) where people don’t know his family, and Chuck is taking the practical approach to finding a college - looking for the schools with the best secret societies.
Serena seems content visiting Brown until Blair totally bashes Brown and tells Serena that she didn’t stand a chance of getting into Yale.
Little does Blair know that Serena got a hand-written invitation from the Yale’s admission office for a school visit. Egged-on by Blair, Serena decides to hop on the Yale bandwagon and visit the school.
As for high school, Jenny Humphrey (Taylor Momsen) is still not going. Some tension arises when Jenny offers the solution of home-schooling to her dad (Vanessa, amazingly, would be her teacher). Rufus rejects the>
Jenny makes a deal with him - if he follows her around her job for one day and still thinks that she should go back to school and ignore her dream of pursuing fashion, she will quit working for Eleanor and return to school.
Rufus agrees, but doesn’t want Jenny to drop out. He even tries to get Eleanor to fire Jenny so that she can return to school. Eleanor refuses.
At Yale, things are going wrong for Blair. She is surprised to see Serena in the Dean’s office. Blair’s interview ends up going horribly wrong. When Blair confronts Serena, the latter admits she first came to get back at B, but she likes the school and the people, and isn’t sorry.
Making matters worse, Serena is invited to an intimate gathering at the Dean’s house that night. This sends Blair over the edge.
Blair goes to the Dean’s secretary and schemes her way into the party.
Meanwhile, Dan also doesn’t do a good job during his interview when the Dean notices that his app only contains one letter of recommendation. The Dean tells Dan to find someone else (particularly on campus) to write him one.
The person that Dan ends up seeking out for help happens to be an English student … who has fallen for Nate. But she thinks that Nate is actually Dan Humphrey! Nate came up with a quick alter-ego when he overheard people talking about him and his family problems on campus … he made out with this girl, but he might have picked a better alias.
While seeking help getting his material into the hands of an English prof, Dan ends up walking in on Nate and this girl making out. Dan sees Nate has been pretending to be him and gets annoyed.
Chuck Bass, meanwhile, has been trying to get inside secret society Skull and Bones. The men sought him as a candidate for membership next year.
Chuck impresses them by basically bringing in really expensive hookers to “entertain” them and secure his place in the society. However, the Skulls want Chuck to bring Nate because Nate’s father stole some of their money.
Chuck agrees to bring Nate, but instead lets them capture Dan. The two guys got mixed up once again, leading to another plot twist.
You gotta love Gossip Girl!
Dan ends up tied to a statue in his underwear. The Skulls show up at the bar that Nate is drinking in later and are talking about how they taught Nate Archibald a lesson. When Nate hears, he tells them who he is and that they got the wrong guy. Nate starts a brawl and then goes to rescue Dan.
As a tradition at the Dean’s party, he asks each student a question about who they would like to have dinner with the most, dead or alive.
Chuck lets Serena in on the answer that Blair has been preparing for, and after finding out that Blair got into the party, Serena uses it.
But during the public revealing of the answers, written on index cards, Serena is shocked as the Dean reads her answer - which Blair sabotaged!
The card says Serena would like most to have dinner with Pete Fairman.
Making matters infinitely worse, Blair makes sure to clarify who that is to the stunned crowd by blurting out that Pete Fairman happens to be the guy Serena “killed.” She also throws in the obligatory sex tape reference.
Outside, Blair and Serena start screaming and get into a full-on physical cat fight. After they cool off, Serena says they shouldn’t be friends and Blair agrees. They call a truce and part ways.
In New York, Rufus tells Jenny that she needs to go to school. Jenny agrees but asks her Dad to accompany her on one last errand. The errand happens to be to drop something off at Lily’s apartment.
When Jenny and Rufus enter the apartment, Lily ends up coming out in a revealing black dress that Jenny had crafted for Serena. Lily was just trying it on just to see how it looked.
Rufus is floored by the dress and that Jenny created it. Lily helps to put things into perspective for Rufus and explains that he is lucky to have a daughter so close to achieving her dreams at a young age.
Rufus agrees to let Jenny be home schooled by Vanessa.
Back at Yale, Blair and Serena sort of make amends. Both end up going to the Dean’s office to explain that the other deserves admission more.
The two friends agree to drive home together and end their battling. Serena does get a call back from the Dean who says she can count on early admission to the school (he is looking for the publicity angle for sure, given his fascination with Serena’s new socialite life).
When Serena asks about Blair, the Dean implies that Blair won’t be getting in. But Serena says that she won’t go without Blair.
Nate doesn’t willing to forgive Chuck for his stunt with the Skulls. Nate decides to take the train home with Dan, leaving Chuck alone.

GOTHAM GIRL
In the new issue of Gotham, Leighton Meester talks tabloids and the price of fame:
“You can’t pay attention to what tabloids say. That’s not what my job is about - it’s not about getting judged by other people…And while fashion is an awesome, exciting part of my job, because that’s what the show [Gossip Girl] is partly about, it really doesn’t define who you are. You look ridiculous if you dress for people other than yourself. It’s just sad.”

BRAVO FOR RUNWAY
The deal to move Project Runway from the Bravo network to the Lifetime network was thrown into uncertainty on Friday when a New York State Supreme Court judge granted NBC Universal, the owner of Bravo, a preliminary injunction stopping the deal.
The judge, Richard B. Lowe III, ruled favorably on NBC’s claim that it should get relief because the Weinstein Company, the owner of Project Runway, closed a deal with Lifetime without granting NBC a last opportunity to match the terms of the deal, a right NBC claimed its contract guaranteed.
The decision stunned parties on all sides of the deal because such injunctions are so rarely granted in entertainment industry disputes. NBC executives said the decision meant the judge had concluded that NBC would win the case on its merits.
In the short term the decision means that Project Runway cannot be presented on Lifetime, nor marketed and promoted by that network. Nor can Lifetime offer any spinoffs of the show, as it had planned.
“Runway” had been tentatively scheduled to begin on Lifetime on Jan. 7. Lifetime has built much of its winter schedule around the arrival of “Runway,” one of the most successful recent shows in cable television.

ISIS WANTS TO GO ALL WOMAN
America’s Next Top Model’s first transgender contestant, Isis Tsunami, was eliminated this week. But she’s hoping now that the show’s over to make money to pay for sex-reassignment surgery. “I’m not working right now, but hopefully I get a lot of gigs from me being on the show. Once I save my money — hopefully within the next two years, that’s my goal — I will have it done as soon as possible, so I can just get it out of the way.”
