Compuserve offers the first email service to computer-users; AOL and Prodigy follow soon after.
Telenet - the first commercial/civilian equivalent of ARPANET
Ray Tomlinson sends first email message.
First ARPANET link established at 22:30 hours on October 29, 1969 between UCLA and Stanford Research Institute. Two more nodes - at University of Callifornia Santa Barbara and University of Utah - were added December 5, 1969.
