• Landsteiner proved there were different blood groups
  1901

  Karl Landsteiner proved that there were three different blood groups. A, B and O

• Chloroform becomes widely accepted
  1857

  Queen Victoria used chloroform during the birth of her 8th child, this made more people accepting of the use of chloroform.

• Chloroform Discovered
  1847

  James Simpon discovers chloroform while experimenting with different chemicals with his freinds.

• Ether Used By Robert Liston
  1846

  Robert Liston uses Ether in Lodon to anaesthetise a patient during a leg amputation.

• Laughing Gas used in dentistry
  1839

  Laughing Gas begins to be used in dentistry. 40 years after it's discovery.

• 'Laughing Gas' Discovered
  1799

  Sir Humphry Davy discovered that laughing gas reduced the sensation of pain.

• Pare disproves the use of the Beozar stone
  1567

  Pare test the belief that the Beozar stone cures all poisons by giving a condemmened cook some some poison and then giving him the Beozar stone. The cook later died. This showed that it did not work.
