RCMP in New Brunswick have charged Fred Prosser with first-degree murder in Sabrina Patterson's death, more than two months after the 25-year-old woman's body was found in a wooded area.
Friends and family gathered at a funeral home in Sackville to say goodbye to Sabrina Patterson of Riverview.
A candlelight vigil was held Sunday night outside of Sabrina Patterson's Riverview home.
A body discovered on November 6 in a wooded area in the Shenstone, N.B. area has been positively identified as 25-year old Sabrina Patterson.
Her body was discovered by a man who was searching the area for the woman who had been missing since October 29. The man then called police who proceeded to secure the area.
An autopsy is being conducted to determine the cause and time of death. Ms. Patterson’s death is being treated by police as a homicide. At this point no charges have been laid.
A body has been discovered in a wooded area in the Shenstone, N.B. area.
At around 11 a.m. on November 6, 2010, a call was made to police by people who discovered the body while they were travelling in the woods. Police are currently on the scene. A positive identification of the body has not been made.
There is no word as to whether this discovery has anything to do with Sabrina Patterson.
However, the body was found in a wooded area near the home of Patterson's ex-boyfriend, Fred Prosser.
Fred Prosser is charged with assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Sabrina Patterson, who police continue to search for since she went missing a week ago.
Following further analysis along with interviews of witnesses, RCMP investigators have determined a missing Riverview woman was not in a surveillance video retrieved from outside a pub at the Riverview Mall. Earlier it was believed 25-year-old Sabrina Patterson was on the video but investigators have ruled that out.
Shortly after 12 noon today, the RCMP located Fred Prosser.
Prosser was found by RCMP at his residence in Shenstone when police officers were visiting the home to update his family. The pick-up truck police were also looking for was discovered near the residence.
RCMP confirm that Sabrina Patterson, 25, of Riverview and Fred Prosser, 31, of Shenstone were once a couple and have two children together.
Up until now the only thing police would say is that the two knew each other.
Details emerge that Both Ms. Patterson and Mr. Prosser were known to each other.
RCMP say it is unknown if there is a connection between their disappearances.

Patterson was reported missing on Sunday night, when she failed to pick up her kids.
Sabrina Patterson is approximately 5’4 and weighs approximately 180 pounds. She has brown eyes and shoulder length brown hair
Patterson was last seen by friends Friday October 29, 2010 at the Coliseum in Moncton. Her car was found at the Riverview Mall.
