At E3 Microsoft announces there own motion controller codenamed Natal.
Question 2: Why was the event important to the industry?
With the E3 demo of Milo and Kate, this really opened eyes in the industry. This could be the next generation of gaming. Interacting with a living AI in the game that talks to you and sees you.

Question 1: What were the details of the event?
Bioware, well known for the exceptional production values and storytelling, announce they are taking there Knights of the Old Republic franchise online.
Question 2: Why was the event important to the industry?
Blizzard has dominated the MMO scene for the past 3 years, and nothing to date has been able to topple them. With EA publishing, this is a direct attack against Activision Blizzard's WoW.

Activsion and Vivendi games announce there merger, therefore leading to the publishing giant Activision - Blizzard.
Question 2: Why was the event important to the industry?
This merger created the second largest publishing giant in the industry next to EA. With Blizzard's enormous revenues from WoW and Activision's large staple of studios, they will be a force to be reckoned with.

Sega stops offering repair services for Dreamcast and Saturn. Production of said consoles were stopped in 2001.
Question 2: Why was the event important to the industry?
This even officially ended all support for the Dreamcast, there concluding Sega's exit from the hardware market. However homebrew releases are still happening.

Sony beats there previous milestone of 90 million units with the PS1, by selling 100 million PS2's.
Question 2: Why was the event important to the industry?
Sony solidifies there hold on the console wars of the 2000s, and leads the industry.

EA settled there overtime lawsit and compensated the affected employees with 15.6 million.
Question 2: Why was the event important to the industry?
California law exempts certain professionals in the software industry from receiving overtime if they make more than a certain amount. EA reclassified its entry level artists as hourly employees to avoid future suits.

NCSoft bought ArenaNet, then invested 7million into the company
Question 2: Why was the event important to the industry?
ArenaNet developed Guild Wars, which is a MMO without a subscription. You pay for the box and thats it. Which leads to successful sales.

Nintendo president for the past 50 years steps down and retires.
Question 2: Why was the event important to the industry?
This led to a new regime leading Nintendo, therefore new blood and new ideas to take the company in a diffrent direction.

Boxx releases their dual xeon workstations optimized for 3d modeling programs like Maya and SoftImage.
Question 2: Why was the event important to the industry?
With access to more powerful workstations, modelers and animators will have a much easier time getting there models rigged and animated.

Sega prepares to release there first game on the Dreamcast Network pn March 2.
Question 2: Why was the event important to the industry?
This marked one of the first consoles with multiplayer connectivity in the industry and paved the way for PS2 and Xbox to integrate it as well.
