Maurice Hawkins is scheduled for trial Aug. 12. Hawkins, 54, is suspected in the Aug. 8, 2011 death of Barbara Lloyd. Lloyd was found dead near the Post Office Pavilion, the victim of a stabbing.

James Sandidge is scheduled for trial July 22. Sandidge, 22, is suspected in the Oct. 22, 2011, death of Keenan Jerel Lee.

Alex Jerome Cater is scheduled for trial beginning July 22. Cater, 31, is suspected of stabbing and killing Leroy Studevant in Marvin Gaye Park on the morning of Dec. 31, 2011. Studevant's death was the first ruled homicide of 2012.

William Faison is scheduled for trial beginning July 15. Faison, 21, is charged with first-degree murder, obstruction of justice and several weapons charges in connection with the shooting death of Jeffrey Yarnell Covington. Prosecutors believe that Covington was the victim of a robbery turned fatal.

Stanley Moghalu, Kevin Charles, Johnnie Harris, Jekwan Smith and Anthony Hatton are scheduled for trial beginning June 10. The men are alleged members of “21st and Vietnam” and suspected of killing Tyrell Fogle, Isaiah Sheffield and Steven Moore for gang-related reasons between August and December 2011.

Rashad Terrell Slye is scheduled for trial beginning May 6. Slye, 20, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, robbery and five weapons charges in connection with the shooting death of cab driver Domingo Ezirike.

Deonte Bryant, Terrance Bush and Terry Jimenez are scheduled for trial beginning May 6. The men are charged with first-degree murder, assault with intent to kill, aggravated assault and various weapons charges in connection with the shooting death of Robert Foster. Prosecutors believe that Bryant and Bush had gang beef with Jimenez and exchanged gunfire following the Caribbean Festival in June 2011; Foster is believed to have been an innocent bystander.

Jeffrey Mills is scheduled for trial beginning April 29. Mills, 50, is charged with first-degree premeditated murder while armed in connection with the death of Juan Paredes. Mills is accused of beating Paredes to death with a barbell in a busy Columbia Heights commercial area last January.

Johnnie Sweets is scheduled for trial beginning April 22. Sweets, 17, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, kidnapping and evidence tampering in connection with the brutal murder of Latisha Frazier, whose body was never found. Sweets is the last remaining defendant in the case.

Raymond Faunteroy is scheduled for trial April 1. Faunteroy, 26, is suspected in the shooting death of Derrick Ragland. Ragland was gunned down in the 1000 block of Taylor Street Northeast on Dec. 19, 2011. Charging documents in the case allege that Faunteroy attempted to purchase a gun from Ragland just days before Ragland was killed; however, Ragland instead robbed Faunteroy.

Keir Maurice Johnson and Lester Williams are scheduled for trial beginning February 4. Johnson, 22, and Williams, 24, are among seven men named in an 80-count indictment that details five years of gang violence in Adams Morgan, Columbia Heights and the U Street corridor. Among the crimes charged in the indictment is a murder charge in connection with the shooting death of Jamal Coates.

Karl Pugh, 30, is charged with second-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of Quentin Ragland. According to charging documents, Pugh and Ragland got into a “tussle” after smoking PCP together. During the tussle, a revolver fired and hit Ragland in the face at close range.
