The terms sabre-toothed cat, sabretooth, and sabre-toothed tiger describe numerous species, mainly in the families Felidae (subfamily Machairodontinae), Barbourofelidae, and Nimravidae, but also including two marsupial families, that lived during various parts of the Cenozoic Era and evolved their sabre-toothed characteristics entirely independently. posted by brandi H

This is a rhino from the tertiary period. An Evolved species lives on earth today. Posted by Victor B.
This is a horse type animal. It isn't harmful and is very nice. Posted by Victor B.
This is a picture of coelophysis that is living during the Triassic Period. They are probably hunting because they are predators. Posted by Max W.
These are the prehistoric version of the modern day mice. Posted by Max W.
Dimetrodon preceded the earliest dinosaurs by more than 40 million years but physically it looked a lot like one. It is often referred to as mammal-like reptile, based on characteristics of the skull and dentition. Dimetrodon was a dominant carnivore posted by TRENT C.
This animal was toothless, except for prominent tusks, hence the name. It probably cropped vegetation with a horny beak, much like a tortoise, while the tusks may have been used for digging up roots and tubers. Dicynodon was a medium sized and advanced member of the Dicynodont group. It had an average length of 1.2 metres (3.9 ft), although size differed among species. posted by TRENT C
Much larger wingspan of 2.5 ft. Some of the first insects came from the carboniferous
Based on fossil evidence, cockroaches are known to have been present on Earth for over 300 million years. Their sizes vary considerably; some species are up to several inches long. Many consider insects to be one of the most successful forms of life to ever inhabit this planet, and they are truely one of the most adaptable and successful insect groups this planet has ever known. Cockroaches, especially the German cockroach, are the most commonly encountered and important household insect pests in much of the U.S. Posted by Rosaura C.

This is one of the many archnids that walked the earth during the devonain time period. In fact, this is the oldest known spider and it was found in the middle of the devonian period. posted by travis g
These are some of the only species of shark that existed in this times. These sharks had bodies and heads made of cartilage, which made them sleek and flexible to hunt in the ocean deep. posted by travis g

The Cephalopoda is an ancient and very successful group of the Mollusca. Cephalopods have been among the dominant large predators in the ocean at various times in geological history. Posted by Lola J.

The most prominent animals of the Cambrian period were the trilobites, a primitive form of an arthropod with remarkably developed eyes (unusual in such early organisms). Trilobites first appeared during the Atdabanian epoch and reached their fullest development in the middle Cambrian. posted by Hellen O.
