The first Apple Computer
Developed in 1944 to be used by the United States during World War II. This was the first digital computer.
The Mark I was quickly followed by ENIAC. Another computer used in the war effort.
Used Jacquard’s punch card technology to enable the user to count data and see the results on the dials above the desk. This technology was first used to count people in the US 1890 Census.
Designed by Charles Babbage as the first general purpose computer. Used the punch cards designed by Jacquard, it is considered the pre-cursor to modern computers.
A power loom using punch cards. It was designed to create patterns in tapestries. This was an important development given the number of people working in the manufacturing industry at the time.
Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz developed a calculator that could add, subtract, multiply and divide.
Developed by Blaise Pascal to assist his father add figures in his work as a tax collector. Was not very accurate and was very expensive.
Developed by John Napier to perform complex multiplications. This technology was adapted to create slide rules, a technology that helped NASA astronauts land on the moon in the 1960’s.
