End of world war ll - Paris Peace Treaty – Northern Transylvania returned to Romania. Bessarabia, Northern Bukovina and southern Dobruja were not recovered. The Moldavian SSR became independent.

What started the war was the assassination on 28 June 1914 of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria, the heir to the throne of Hungary, and the invasion of the Austro – Hungarian to Serbia. But in fact that was an excuse to start a war. There were a long fighting about lands and political influence in Europe. Almost all the countries in Europe took sides in this war.
When the war broke out Romania declared neutrality. Two years later under the pressure of Allies, especially France, Romania joined the Allies and declared war on Austria-Hungary.

The Second Balkan War was a conflict between Bulgaria – Serbia and Greece. Romania joins this war in order to get more territories. When the Romanian approached the capital Sofia. Bulgaria asked for armistice.
