EDU-262 Presentation Information: Hi, my name is Jacqui Edwards and I am getting me degree in Learning Disabilities, Secondary track, and my content area is History. The website I’m going to show you all about tonight is called Dipity and it’s web address is dipity.com. Go ahead and click on the link if you haven’t already. This is an example of a timeline you can create on Dipity and an account is free. I choose the events leading up to the birth of the constitution. As you can see, the dates are along the bottom and the events each have a bubble above their respective dates. You can go ahead and click on the event bubbles to get more information. SO if you click on the Mayflower Compact bubble, you get the see the picture of the document gets a bit bigger and we can see that the Mayflower Compact was a document drafted by the Pilgrims at Plymouth Rock, MA. Under the dates, there is scroll bar where we cans see more events. If we click on the Constitution, I added a picture AND a video that the viewer can select and see. This is a great interactive tool to organize information your student have been learning about and also is useful in presentations. Can you imagine your students each creating a video for their topic, then uploading them to the events. That would be a great sense of ownership for them. There are also some other neat features like the “Flipbook” and “List” depending on which way you prefer to see the information. The goal of this website is to “organize the information on the internet” and they have people creating great things like when the miners in South America were trapped, information was added about each one and was associated by the times they were each rescued. There are a lot of humorous timelines created like Youtube’s best videos over the years.
