Chancellor's deadline to send out layoff notices to faculty and staff 45 days in advance before the start of the semester.
There will be a statewide CFA planning meeting and all faculty members are welcome to voice their opinions.
The CSU Board of Trustees will meet to discuss the overall amount of the cut, which is estimated at $583 million as of right now.
The CFA held a meeting in the Noski Auditorium with intentions to inform faculty of the latest updates about the chancellor's proposals and to have an open discussion with faculty members about the situation.

The California Faculty Association (CFA) refused to vote in favor of furloughs or layoffs without more detailed information from the chancellor. They intend to share this information with the rest of the CSUN faculty in order for everyone to make an informed decision about these two options.
CFA members met with President Jolene Koester and Provost Harry Hellenbrand to voice their concerns about obtaining more information before they vote for furloughs or layoffs.
Original estimates of cuts resulting in just below $100 million for the entire CSU system, increased to between $400 and $700 million. CSUN's proposed share of this cut was $2.2 to $6.8 million and now ranges anywhere between $28 and $49 million, an astronomical increase.

Gov. Schwarzenegger signs the budget amendment for the 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 fiscal years. This reduces the CSU budget by $97 million, but it also gives back $31.3 million for the 2009-2010 fiscal year.
