As the year of 1888 came to an end, Vincent traveled to Saint-Rémy-de-Provence where he committed himself to an asylum.
Van Goh's mental illness began to show.He suffered from various types of epilepsy, psychotic attacks, and delusions.
he has moved to Paris to live with his brother Theo.
He completed his painting "Potato Eaters"
He wanted to respected by the artistic community, that he began painting the picture "The Potato Eaters"
Worked in a make-shift studio located in a room he rented from a Catholic church.

By the end of 1881, he moved out of his parent's house and was acquiring lessons from Anton Mauve. He also began a relationship with a pregnant prostitute (Sien Hoomik)

After completing his array of education, he was employed by the Hague gallery runned by French dealer Goupil et Cie at age 16.
