  Shangkun's most known for his role in the Tiananmen Square massacre. His term ended on March 27th, 1993.

  Known for taking steps toward a market-based economy. Xiannian term ended on April 8th, 1988.

• Dong Biwu
  Feb 24, 1972

  Prior to this date, Biwu co-led China with Song Qingling for four years. He "acted" as president until January 17th, 1975.

• Song Qingling
  Oct 31, 1968

  Recognized as the first non-royal woman to lead the country. She co-led China with Dong Biwu. She spent four years in office, until her term ended on February 24th, 1972.

• Liu Shaoqi
  Apr 26, 1959

  Known as a 'Capitalist-roader' and a threat to Mao Zedong's power. Shaoqi's term in office ended on October 31st, 1968.
