A series of coordinated suicidal attacks on the United States by Al-Qaeda. Four commercial jet planes were hijacked and crashed, killing many. This sparked the war on terrorism for the U.S.
President John F. Kennedy informed the world during the Cold War that the Soviets were building missile bases in Cuba, 90 miles from the shore of Florida. An agreement was made for the Soviets to remove their missiles from Cuba if the US promised to never invade Cuba.
A military conflict between the Republic of Korea and the United Nations, and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the People's Republic of China. North had established a communist government that the South did not like. Ended in a buffer zone between the two Koreas that still exists today.
Stated that the US would support Greece and Turkey with economic and military aid so that they would not fall into the communist Soviet sphere. Also pledged to support any free people that are being attempted to be suffocated by their government.
A conflict between Spain and the United States over the Spanish atrocities spread through yellow journalism in the US. It was a decisive US victory and The Treaty of Paris was created.
Statement to all European nations that any attempt to colonize or interfere in the Americas would not be allowed and require US intervention. It was also an agreement that the west would not interfere with any internal European affairs.
