Leo Africanus converted to Christianity in approx. 1519 because he had little of a choice. He had little of a choice because he had a low status and was one of very few Muslims.
In June 1518, Leo Africanus got captured by Spanish Privateers. He then was brought to Rhodes.
In 1517, Leo Africanus made a pilgrimage to Mecca. He did this as all Muslims hope to do.
Leo Africanus traveled to Timbuktu for the first time with his uncle. He traveled by camel while a diplomat for the Portuguese.
Leo Africanus graduated from al-Qarawiyyin in approx. 1505. al-Qarawiyyan was in Fez, Morocco.
Leo Africanus was born in Granada, Spain, in 1494. Leo Africanus was born into a Moorish Family.
