Patrick Henry gave a speech criticizing King George, and parliament. Speaking of King George he mentioned "Caesar had his Brutus, Charles the First his Cromwell and King George?" then interrupted by listeners shouting "Treason!" Patrick calmed down and said "If this be treason, make the most of it."
These were members of congress sincerely devoted to duty, and King George's law and government, and attached to the present and impending misfortunes of the British colonies on this continent. Lastly their humble to both Houses of Parliament, to procure the repeal of the Act for granting and applying certain stamp duties.
The Sugar Act made merchants pay a tax of six pence a gallon on molasses. After this the colonist got tired and started to buy it from other places for a cheaper kind somewhere else.
